If the adult 375 does not subside for a long time, is it inflammation?

Many people have experienced colds and fevers, which are often caused by the body being invaded by bacteria and the physiological reactions of the body's internal cells in order to resist the bacteria. But if the fever persists for a long time, it can be very dangerous and may affect our brain development. Therefore, in order to cure the disease, it is even more important to identify the cause of the fever. So when an adult has a fever of 37.5 degrees and the fever does not subside for a long time, is it caused by inflammation?

1. Having a high fever is one of the body's mechanisms to resist infection. Our body mobilizes its own defense system to kill foreign pathogens by raising body temperature (generally speaking, pathogens will die above 39°C), thereby shortening the duration of the disease and enhancing the effectiveness of antibiotics. If you use medication to reduce fever at the onset of a cold (37-38.5℃), the bacteria in your body will be temporarily put into a state of suspended animation and become resistant to the drugs. Once they revive, they are often more difficult to treat.

2. Cold compress

If a high fever is unbearable, cold compresses can be used to help lower the body temperature. Place a cold wet towel on your forehead, wrists, and calves, and cover other parts of your body with clothing. When the cold compress reaches body temperature, it should be changed and repeated until the fever subsides. You can also wrap ice cubes in a cloth bag and place it on your forehead.

3. Hot compress

If the body temperature is not too high, you can use hot compress to reduce the fever. Use a hot, wet towel to repeatedly wipe the patient's forehead and limbs to dissipate heat from the body until the fever subsides.

4. Generally, even if there are no other symptoms and the fever persists for a long time, the cause should still be checked.

Consider checking whether there are abnormalities in the blood routine erythrocyte sedimentation rate, and also consider checking the urine routine and liver and kidney function to see what the situation is. Then apply appropriate drug treatment.

5. Repeated fever is a normal reaction of the body to fight against pathogen infection. The methods of reducing fever include physical cooling. When necessary, you need to take oral antipyretic drugs or give infusion treatment.

It is best to go to the hospital for a check-up. Conventional antipyretics only reduce fever and do not treat the pathogens that cause the disease. For example, when bacterial pneumonia causes high fever, antibiotics are first needed to control the bacteria, thereby achieving the effect of completely reducing inflammation and fever. If only antipyretics are used, the body temperature can only be lowered temporarily, and then rise again after a while, resulting in repeated use of antipyretics. This blind cooling can also cause the patient to collapse due to excessive sweating, which is not conducive to treatment.
