Trigeminal neuralgia is very common in our lives, and most patients with trigeminal neuralgia are caused by frequent fatigue. There are several main treatments for trigeminal neuralgia:

1. Drug treatment: Oral carbamazepine is the most commonly used treatment method for trigeminal neuralgia in the early stages of the disease. When many patients start using carbamazepine, the treatment effect is good and can temporarily relieve pain. As time goes by, drug resistance occurs, the treatment effect becomes worse and worse, and the side effects become more and more obvious. At this time, patients still cannot effectively control the pain by increasing the dosage of the drug or switching to other drugs, and need to consider surgical treatment or non-invasive gamma knife treatment as soon as possible.

2. Microvascular decompression surgery: Trigeminal neuralgia is caused by compression of the trigeminal nerve by blood vessels. Clinically, MRI examinations of patients with symptoms of vascular compression can clearly show that the trigeminal nerve root is compressed by blood vessels. These patients can undergo microvascular decompression surgery. Tip: This operation is a craniotomy and requires anesthesia. Patients need to choose carefully. Patients without vascular compression or tumor compression are not suitable for this treatment plan.

3. Radiofrequency therapy: To treat trigeminal neuralgia, a special long needle is used to puncture the root of the trigeminal nerve, and a radiofrequency instrument is used to heat it to about 80 degrees, causing the nerve to degenerate and necrotize, thereby blocking the conduction of pain. During treatment, patients will experience and endure severe pain. Since a needle needs to be punctured into the skull, some patients are at risk of intracranial hemorrhage, brain nerve damage, or even death; there are also risks of mild facial paralysis, intracranial infection, herpes zoster, corneal inflammation, sensory impairment, etc. Trigeminal neuralgia can be cured
