When patients experience pain in the right back and right chest, they must not be careless, because this is most likely a symptom caused by intercostal neuralgia. Intercostal neuralgia is relatively common and has a long onset period. It is not a particularly simple disease to treat and requires proper conditioning in daily life. Below, we will introduce you to the relevant knowledge about intercostal neuralgia in detail! 1. Symptoms and Signs Intercostal neuralgia is divided into secondary and primary types. Radicular intercostal neuralgia may be caused by diseases such as thoracic vertebra degeneration, thoracic vertebra tuberculosis, thoracic vertebra injury, thoracic vertebra dura mater, tumors, ankylosing spondylitis, etc.; axial intercostal neuralgia may be caused by lesions of the ribs, mediastinum or pleura. Primary intercostal neuralgia is rare. When intercostal neuralgia occurs, pain can be seen radiating from back to front along the corresponding intercostal space in a semicircular shape; the pain is stabbing or burning. The pain gets worse when you cough, take a deep breath, or sneeze. The pain is usually in one nerve on one side. Physical examination revealed obvious tenderness beside the spinous processes of the thoracic vertebrae and in the intercostal spaces; patients with typical radicular intercostal neuralgia had a positive neck flexion test; the distribution area of the affected nerves often showed signs of neurological impairment such as hyperesthesia or hypoesthesia. 2. Treatment Methods There is currently no specific treatment for intercostal neuralgia. You can take some nerve nourishing drugs first. If the pain worsens, you can use painkillers, physical therapy, and nerve blockade. However, pleurisy, lung diseases and thoracic spine lesions can all cause intercostal neuralgia. It is recommended that you go to the hospital to find out the cause. The following is a successful dietary therapy for the treatment of "intercostal neuralgia". Take 250 grams each of lean pork and carrots, 150 grams of black beans, 10 grams of Salvia miltiorrhiza, 6 grams each of safflower, peach kernel, and tangerine peel, 15 grams of onion, 10 grams of ginger, and 5 grams of salt. Wash the salvia miltiorrhiza and slice it; wash the dried tangerine peel and cut into shreds; wash the safflower and peach kernels; wash the pork and radish and cut into 3 cm square pieces; remove impurities from the black beans; slice the ginger and cut the green onion into sections for later use. Put pork, radish, black beans, salvia miltiorrhiza, safflower, peach kernel, tangerine peel, ginger, onion, and salt in a stew pot and add 1000 ml of water. Place the stew pot on high heat and bring to a boil, then simmer over low heat for 1 hour. Take it once a day with meals, 30-50 grams each of pork and black beans. This prescription replenishes Qi and blood, and resolves blood stasis. It is suitable for patients with intercostal neuralgia, qi stagnation and blood stasis. 3. Diet therapy Angelica and bergamot stewed eel: 10 grams each of angelica and bergamot, 300 grams of eel, 15 grams of cooking wine, and appropriate amounts of seasonings, ginger and onions. Wash and slice the angelica and bergamot, remove the bones and internal organs of the eel and slice it, slice the ginger, and cut the green onion into sections. Add salt and cooking wine to the eel, marinate for a while, then put into a stew pot, add angelica, bergamot, ginger, onion, salt, put in appropriate amount of water, boil over high heat, then simmer over low heat until cooked. Eating it once a day can promote blood circulation, remove blood stasis, dredge meridians and relieve pain. Safflower and lettuce: 10 grams of safflower, 250 grams of lettuce, 150 grams of kelp, 250 grams of chicken, and appropriate amounts of seasonings, ginger and onions. Wash the safflower, put it into a pot, add 50 ml of water, and boil it for later use. Cut the lettuce into thin strips and squeeze out the moisture; wash the kelp, boil it in boiling water and cut it into thin strips; wash the chicken, cook it and cut it into thin strips; cut the ginger and green onion into shreds. Put shredded lettuce, shredded chicken, shredded kelp and safflower into a bowl, add ginger, onion, salt, vinegar, soy sauce, sugar and sesame oil, and mix well. Eating it once a day can benefit the five internal organs and dredge the meridians. |
