Prostate hyperplasia will not develop into prostate cancer

Prostate hyperplasia will not develop into prostate cancer

65-year-old Mr. Liu was diagnosed with prostate hyperplasia. Although the doctor told him that almost all elderly men suffer from prostate hyperplasia to some extent, and his prostate hyperplasia is mild, Mr. Liu was still unhappy all day. After careful questioning by his children and doctors, we learned that Mr. Liu believed that prostate hyperplasia was not far from prostate cancer.

Prostate cancer, like prostate hyperplasia, is a disease that often occurs in older men, but at least so far, no evidence has been found that prostate hyperplasia can transform into prostate cancer.

This is because, although prostate cancer and prostate hyperplasia both rely on androgen, their occurrence and development mechanisms are completely different, and the genes they rely on are also completely different, so generally speaking, there is no possibility of mutual transformation. In addition, the two are prone to occur in different locations. Prostate cancer is prone to occur in the surrounding area of the prostate, while prostate hyperplasia only occurs in the central area of the prostate.

However, it should be noted that although prostate hyperplasia will not develop into prostate cancer, it does not mean that you will not get prostate cancer if you have prostate hyperplasia. It is entirely possible that the two can occur at the same time. Therefore, elderly patients with prostate hyperplasia should still have regular PSA checks to prevent the possibility of coexistence of prostate hyperplasia and prostate cancer.
