My eyes are sore from wearing colored contact lenses

People nowadays love beauty very much and they pay great attention to the color of their eyes, so they will choose to wear colored contact lenses. However, wearing colored contact lenses for a long time will make the eye area become very sore. At this time, you must take off the colored contact lenses and cannot wear them again, otherwise your eyes will be damaged by pigments and cause more serious eye diseases.

1. Eyes damaged by pigment layer:

Colored contact lenses contain pigments. Most small-brand colored contact lenses have their pigments printed directly on the lens surface. If the production technology is not up to standard, the pigment may fall off and damage the eyes in the future. The pigment may cause allergies and irritate the cornea and conjunctiva, causing inflammation. Poor quality colored contact lenses, due to unapproved pigment chemical composition, rough workmanship, and even some products not approved by relevant government departments, increase the possibility of eye-related complications.

2. Narrow the field of vision of the eyes:

Some colored contact lenses use a smaller optical zone to achieve an exaggerated color effect, which will reduce the field of view of the eye. The dyed part generally has poor light transmittance, so after wearing it, you will feel that your field of vision has become smaller, and there is a feeling of "seeing something through a tube". This "oblivious to the surroundings" state is very unfavorable for driving or athletes. It is recommended to consider lenses with a larger optical zone when choosing.

3. Corneal hypoxia:

Some colored contact lenses have low water content and poor oxygen permeability, while some lenses have pigments printed on the surface of the lenses, which reduces the oxygen permeability of the lenses. Long-term corneal hypoxia can lead to complications such as red eyes, discomfort, and corneal neovascularization, affecting corneal health.

4. Eye discomfort, causing dry eyes:

Traditional colored contact lenses have more sediment and pigments on the surface of the lens, which can cause poor wettability of the lens and easily lead to dry eye syndrome, the main symptoms of which are visual fatigue, eye soreness and foreign body sensation, excessive eye mucus, dryness, eye burning and even blurred vision. It is recommended to choose lenses with high oxygen permeability and short replacement cycles to ensure beauty, comfort and health.
