How many days does it take for a boil in the ear to heal

Everyone will encounter boils, and the location of boils is different. Some people have them on their faces, some on their chests, but what is most distressing is when they grow in the ears, which is very uncomfortable. How many days will it take for a boil in the ear to heal? Boils in the ears are caused by getting angry, but some are caused by bacterial infection. How many days it takes to heal depends on the actual situation. If it is serious, it may even require doctor's treatment.

What is a boil?

Many people don’t know much about what carbuncle is. It is a very common disease. This type of disease is very harmful to human health. When treating this type of disease, good methods are also needed to improve the disease.

What are boils?

Furuncle is a purulent infection of hair follicles and the surrounding tissues deep inside the hair follicles. A carbuncle is formed when multiple adjacent hair follicles are infected, inflamed and fused.

Causes of boils in the ears

External auditory canal furunculosis often occurs in the cartilaginous part of the outer 1/3 of the external auditory canal, because the hair follicles and sebaceous glands on the skin in this area are easily infected by staphylococci, and it is more common in summer and autumn. The causes are mostly damage or irritation to the skin of the external auditory canal due to ear picking, swimming, long-term pus discharge from the middle ear, etc.; some chronic diseases in the body such as diabetes, long-term constipation, endocrine disorders, anemia, etc., when the body's resistance is low, are prone to cause this disease.

The main symptom of external auditory canal furuncle is severe ear pain, which often radiates to the same side of the head and face. The pain worsens when opening the mouth, chewing, or yawning. When a furuncle blocks the external auditory canal, hearing may be reduced; the auricle is obviously tender, and children will cry incessantly if the affected ear is touched occasionally. Examination of the affected ear reveals single or multiple small boils in the external auditory canal, which appear as localized redness, swelling and bulges. The pain is significantly aggravated when the auricle is pulled or the tragus is pressed, which can be distinguished from the ear pain in acute otitis media (there is no pain when the auricle is pulled in acute otitis media). When the furuncle matures, the raised area becomes soft or pus head appears. After the furuncle ruptures, a small amount of pus and blood will flow out of the external auditory canal, and the ear pain will be relieved.

Experts remind: The treatment of this disease cannot be generalized, and should be taken according to the condition:

(1) In the early stages of the disease or when the furuncle is immature, positive and negative pressure cleaning therapy can be used. After cleaning the external auditory canal, apply ichthyol ointment to the affected area 1 to 2 times a day.

(2) If the boil ruptures on its own, use a cotton swab to wipe out the pus and then use iodine to clean the external auditory canal.

(3) If the patient has fever and general discomfort, antibiotics can be given. Based on TCM diagnosis, oral Chinese medicine for clearing away heat, detoxifying, reducing swelling and relieving pain is given.

Now you know the reason why boils grow in the ears. You must pay attention to it in normal times. Your body is the source of illness. When you are sick, you must see a doctor and get treatment. If you only follow your own feelings, you may make mistakes and regret it for the rest of your life. Therefore, we must go to a regular hospital for examination. If the condition is serious, please seek timely treatment.
