What are the symptoms of viral pharyngitis?

Pharyngitis is a very common disease. There are many types of pharyngitis. Pharyngitis generally varies according to the cause.

In fact, the most common type of pharyngitis we see is viral pharyngitis, but most people don’t know much about it.

Toxic pharyngitis simply means pharyngitis caused by viral infection. No matter which type of viral pharyngitis it is, it must be treated as soon as possible.

Clinically, it can be divided into acute and chronic types, with the acute type being more common.

(I) Acute type: The onset is rapid, with needle-tip sized herpes first appearing on the pharynx and oral mucosa, tonsils and corners of the mouth. They are round or oval in shape and solitary.

They are isolated or clustered together, and soon rupture to form shallow ulcers, covered with a pale yellow pseudomembrane, and the surrounding mucosa is bright red, accompanied by chills, fever, and pharyngitis.

Burning pain in the area. Infants and young children cry and are restless, refuse to eat, and have swollen and tender submandibular lymph nodes.

(ii) Chronic type is more common in adults. A small number of herpes appear on the pharyngeal and oral mucosa. After rupturing, it is covered with a gray-white pseudomembrane, and the surrounding mucosa is light red. This type of herpes is cured.

It started and lasted for a long time. There is a slight burning pain in the throat and mouth, but no obvious symptoms.

People with viral pharyngitis often feel discomfort in the throat. If they get cold, tired, talk a lot, or don't drink water for a long time, they will feel sore and burning in the throat.

Severe throat itching causes bouts of irritating coughing, affecting rest. If it is dry or atrophic pharyngitis, the throat will be obviously dry, and it will be difficult to speak and swallow saliva.

You need to drink water frequently to moisten your throat, and even need to get up several times at night to drink water, but this can only temporarily relieve the symptoms, and you will soon feel dry throat again; some people need to drink water frequently when eating.

Dry and hard food can only be swallowed with soup. Chronic pharyngitis, if not cured for a long time, may cause: heart disease, pleurisy, rheumatoid arthritis, tuberculosis

, laryngeal cancer, esophageal cancer and other more serious diseases. Therefore, early detection and early treatment can eliminate or reduce the hidden dangers of the above diseases caused by chronic pharyngitis.

At the same time, regular systematic physical examinations are also very important for patients with chronic pharyngitis.
