Use the whole herb (dried) of rat grass, boil it in water and take it orally. For children over 6 years old, take 2 liang per day; for children between 3 and 6 years old, take 1.6 liang per day; for children under 3 years old, take 1 liang per day. Take it continuously for 3 to 5 days. Those with roundworms should be given anthelmintics. A total of 126 cases were treated, with marked results in 98 cases (77.7%) (improved appetite, normal diet returned); 18 cases (14.2%) improved (increased food intake, but not back to normal); and 10 cases (8.1%) were ineffective. One course of treatment is to take mouse grass for 15 consecutive days. 56 cases were treated, 24 were under control in the short term, 17 showed marked effect, 13 improved, and 2 were ineffective. In effective cases, the antitussive, expectorant and antiasthmatic effects usually appear within 3 to 5 days. No toxic effects were observed during the treatment.
