What are the symptoms of skin graft necrosis

What are the symptoms of skin graft necrosis

When human skin is damaged, a surgery called skin grafting is often used. For example, when a person's body is burned, skin grafting is a very effective method to cover the damaged skin. However, skin grafting surgery often causes some problems. For example, after the surgery, the body may experience some symptoms of discomfort. So what are the symptoms of skin graft necrosis?

If the skin graft becomes necrotic, it will fall off and cause discomfort such as itching and pain. You must pay attention to this. If there is a problem, you must go to the dermatology department of the hospital as soon as possible to avoid aggravating the symptoms and affecting other normal skin.

Skin grafting is a procedure that involves taking a portion of your own healthy skin (donor area) to cover the area where the scar has been removed (receiver area). The skin in the donor area needs to be supplied with new blood vessels in the recipient area in order to survive. Generally speaking, the success rate of autologous skin transplantation is very high, but there is also the possibility that the skin graft will not survive. In addition, all skin grafts will leave scars in the donor area.

Indications

Skin defects caused by various reasons.

Effect

Skin grafting or flap surgery can generally improve the function of the scarred area. Because it is difficult for a skin graft or flap to match the color or elasticity of the surrounding skin in the recipient area, the cosmetic result is not very satisfactory. Skin flap transplantation usually works better than skin grafting.

Postoperative Care

1. After the operation, there may be intravenous drips, urinary catheters, wound drainage tubes, etc. Please pay attention to maintaining good fixation and patency of the tubes;

2. Postoperatively, use drugs that can accelerate the shedding of necrotic tissue and secretions and promote the growth of new granulation tissue.

3. The affected limb can be raised with a pillow to avoid pressure on the skin grafting site and maintain proper fixation and support position;

4. There may be plaster fixation in the skin grafting area. Please do not remove it at will and restrict activities;

5. If the grafted area is on the lower limbs, the patient must rest in bed and cannot get out of bed at will. Only with the doctor's permission can the patient gradually get out of bed and move around.

6. If the skin grafting area is on the buttocks, you can lie prone and be careful when turning over.

Health education on postoperative self-care knowledge. On the day of the operation, the responsible nurse explains the nursing knowledge and cooperation points of the skin grafting area and the skin donor area to the patient and his family. For example, when lying in bed after skin grafting of the limbs, try to elevate the affected limb as much as possible to facilitate venous return, prevent edema, and wound exudation and bleeding; the semi-exposed skin graft area should not be touched with hands; pay attention to the cleanliness of the perineum in the skin graft area of the buttocks, clean the anus with a saline cotton ball after defecation, and lie prone after surgery to prevent the skin graft from being compressed. The donor skin areas on the head and trunk were irradiated with infrared lamps 2 days later to promote drying and scabbing. Learn about skin grafting through health education. The patient's self-care ability was significantly enhanced.
