Cold process soap is made from oil (animal oil/vegetable oil) + alkali (sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide dissolved in water) = soap + natural glycerin, through this very typical saponification reaction. The oils generally used for cold-process soap are mostly precious oils, such as olive oil, camellia oil, wheat germ oil, and rosehip oil. In good cold-process soap, the proportion of coconut oil and palm oil does not exceed 40%. What is the difference between cold process soap and soap base soap? They have different effects on the skin. Industrial soaps have a strong alkaline cleaning power, but are quite harmful to skin that is not very oily. In addition, the soap base production process often requires the addition of alcohol or sugar to make the soap base transparent, or other chemicals to make it milky white.
