Symptoms and treatment of foot arthritis

Symptoms and treatment of foot arthritis

The foot joints of many people are not so healthy, and foot joint inflammation often occurs. This is a problem worthy of everyone's attention. Because people walk frequently, arthritis may occur during the walking process. This is also a normal phenomenon. Arthritis is a very common chronic disease that will involve local joint tissues. Currently, more and more people are suffering from arthritis. After the onset of the disease, we should not only understand the treatment methods, but also know the symptoms after the onset of the disease.

How to treat arthritis correctly

What is arthritis?

Arthritis is a common chronic disease that refers to inflammatory diseases that occur in joints and surrounding tissues and are caused by inflammation, infection, degeneration, trauma or other factors. The main clinical manifestation is joint pain, which may be accompanied by redness, swelling, heat, pain, dysfunction and joint deformity. In severe cases, it can lead to joint disability and affect the patient's quality of life. There are more than 200 million arthritis patients in my country, and the number is increasing.

Causes of arthritis There are many causes of arthritis, which are mainly related to inflammation, autoimmune response, infection, metabolic disorders, trauma, degenerative diseases and other factors. Types of arthritis Arthritis can be divided into more than 100 types based on the causes and clinical manifestations. Common clinical arthritis mainly include: rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, gouty arthritis, reactive arthritis, infectious arthritis, traumatic arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, enteropathic arthritis, and joint manifestations of other systemic diseases include systemic lupus erythematosus, tumors, blood diseases, etc. The most common of these is osteoarthritis. According to statistics, half of the people over 50 years old in my country suffer from osteoarthritis, and 90% of women and 80% of men over 65 years old suffer from osteoarthritis.

The main clinical manifestations are joint pain, swelling, and joint stiffness, which may be accompanied by redness and fever around the joints. Patients with chronic arthritis may suffer from joint deformities and permanent loss of joint function due to long-term restricted joint movement. Can arthritis be cured? The reason why our joints can move flexibly is mainly because the surface of the joints is covered with a layer of smooth articular cartilage. This layer of cartilage is very important for the function of the joints. It can reduce the friction between adjacent bones and cushion the vibration generated during movement. The effectiveness of arthritis treatment mainly depends on whether the articular cartilage can be retained and repaired to the greatest extent. Therefore, after suffering from arthritis, the first thing to do is to clarify the cause of arthritis. For most types of arthritis, if detected and treated early, good treatment effects can be achieved.

For example, in the case of suppurative arthritis caused by bacterial infection, if the infection can be controlled before the cartilage is damaged, the function of the joint can be well preserved. However, there is no clear cause for the cartilage destruction in the most common type of osteoarthritis. Accumulated damage and inflammation, as well as the decline in cartilage regeneration and repair ability with age, cause the cartilage on the joint surface to gradually degenerate, wear and peel off, ultimately leading to loss of joint function. Is osteoarthritis the "immortal cancer"? Osteoarthritis, also known as osteoarthritis, degenerative arthritis, and senile arthritis, is a common chronic degenerative osteoarthritis, which is a chronic aging of the joints. Strictly speaking, it is not a disease, but the result of the degeneration of the human body's physiological functions, just like our face has more and more wrinkles as we age. Therefore, osteoarthritis is definitely not cancer.

How is osteoarthritis treated?

As we all know, the current medical level is not enough to make us rejuvenate or achieve immortality, but we have made great progress in delaying aging. For example, the average human life expectancy has increased nearly three times in the past 100 years. Since osteoarthritis is a manifestation of individual aging, we can only slow down the process. The specific methods are as follows.

1. Control your weight. Being overweight is a high-risk factor for osteoarthritis. An overweight individual is like an overloaded truck. Long-term overload operation will inevitably lead to excessive wear of the joints. Keeping your weight within an appropriate range can reduce the pressure on the articular cartilage and slow down the wear of the articular cartilage.

2. Exercise moderately. Excessively strenuous or excessive exercise can cause damage to the joint cartilage, leading to premature occurrence of osteoarthritis. Therefore, some people believe that in order to delay the occurrence of osteoarthritis, all exercise should be avoided. In fact, this is a misunderstanding of exercise. Joint movement does cause wear and tear of articular cartilage, but cartilage tissue also has metabolism, and moderate exercise is beneficial to the quality of cartilage repair and regeneration. In addition, exercise helps to enhance muscle strength and coordination and improve local blood supply, which are beneficial to joints.
