Symptoms of allergy to mosquitoes

Symptoms of allergy to mosquitoes

Maybe many people in life are allergic to dogs, animal hair, some are allergic to some pollen, and flying dust from plants in the air, but what everyone does not consider is that some people are allergic to mosquitoes. After mosquitoes bite the skin, bumps will appear, but some people will have very serious symptoms, and they will have dermatitis every time they are bitten by mosquitoes.

What you have is clinically called "insect bite dermatitis". Insect bite dermatitis, also known as "insect bite papular urticaria", refers to an inflammatory reaction of the skin caused by bites by insects or arthropods, or contact with the poisonous hairs of insects, which often occurs in exposed parts and around the waist.

Common insects that cause dermatitis include mosquitoes, bedbugs, fleas, mites, midges (small black bugs), wasps, etc. In addition, some caterpillars, such as mulberry caterpillars and stinging caterpillars, can also cause symptoms when their poisonous hairs pierce the skin.

Due to the different types of insects biting the human body and the different physical conditions of the bitten individuals, different skin reactions will occur at the bite site. The general manifestations are edematous papules, wheals, edematous erythema, papules, papulovesicles, petechiae, etc., accompanied by varying degrees of itching, stinging, and burning pain. Regardless of the type of rash, traces of insect bites or bee stings and poisonous hairs can be found in the center of the affected area. The stings and poisonous hairs should be removed as much as possible and the venom sucked out. For insect bite dermatitis caused by mites and fleas, you must take a bath and change into clean clothes before treatment.

Prevention and treatment: Pay attention to personal and environmental hygiene, and change clothes and bedding frequently. You can spray the pot with 1:5000 pyrethroid insecticide to kill bed bugs, fleas, lice and other insects. Once symptoms are found, medication should be taken promptly. Do not drink alcohol or eat spicy food, and go to the suburbs or parks less often. Straw mats should be washed and dried to reduce the number of mites hidden in them and the possibility of insect bites.

Conventional Western medicine treatment plan: The problem is usually solved in 2-3 days.

1. Antihistamine drug chlorpheniramine 4 mg orally 3 times a day

Cetirizine 10 mg orally once a night

2. Hormone treatment: 15-20 mg/day of prednisone, gradually reducing the dosage.

3. Antibiotics can be given in case of concurrent infection.

4. Calamine lotion

5. Apply local cold and wet compress.

External treatment:

1. Take 50 grams each of realgar and alum, grind them into fine powder, mix with tea water and apply to the affected area 3 times a day until healed. This prescription has the effects of detoxification, relieving itching, reducing swelling and relieving pain, and is suitable for skin inflammation caused by various insect bites.

2. Grind 100 grams of fleabane into fine powder and soak it in 50% alcohol. After 3-5 days, apply the powder to the affected area 4 times a day. This prescription has the effects of clearing away heat and detoxifying, reducing swelling and relieving pain. It is suitable for dermatitis caused by caterpillars and bee stings.

3. Blood-letting method: After routine disinfection, use a three-edged needle to prick the area where the skin is obviously swollen due to insect bites to cause a small amount of bleeding, and then use the flash fire method to cupping for 5-10 minutes to remove the bad blood. In most cases, recovery can be achieved in one treatment.
