What are the symptoms of nose inflammation?

What causes nose inflammation?

From the above content, we know what a hot nose is and what we should eat when we have a hot nose. Then, let's take a look at what causes a fire in the nose from the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine.

First of all, "getting angry" is a folk idiom, also known as "heat", which can be explained from the theory of traditional Chinese medicine and belongs to the category of heat syndrome in traditional Chinese medicine. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that when the yin and yang of the human body are out of balance and the internal fire is strong, it will cause internal heat. Therefore, the so-called "fire" is used to describe certain hot symptoms in the body, and getting angry is the internal heat symptom that occurs when the yin and yang of the human body are out of balance.

In traditional Chinese medicine, a sore nose is caused by fire in the lungs. The lung opens up to the nose. The nose is the orifice of the lung, the channel for breathing, and the gateway for the lung qi to enter and exit. The ventilation and olfactory functions of the nose mainly depend on the action of lung qi. When the lung qi is harmonious, breathing is unobstructed and the sense of smell can be normal. The nose is the orifice of the lungs, and it is also the pathway for external pathogens to invade the lungs. If external evil invades the lung defense, it usually enters through the mouth and nose. Clinically, it is common for exogenous pathogens to attack the lungs, and stagnation of lung qi leads to symptoms such as nasal congestion, runny nose, and loss of smell. When lung heat is excessive, shortness of breath and flaring of the nostrils are common. The treatment should be to clear away heat and promote lung function. For example, Ma Xing Shi Gan Decoction can be used with Scutellaria baicalensis, Houttuynia cordata, Morus alba bark, Forsythia suspensa, etc. to enhance the function of clearing the lungs, venting heat and detoxifying. Therefore, lung diseases can be reflected in the nose, and the treatment of nasal diseases often starts from the lungs.

Although the nose and lungs seem to be two unrelated organs, in traditional Chinese medicine theory, they have a mutually influential relationship. Therefore, when the nose gets inflamed, it is mainly due to lung fire. To treat nasal inflammation, we must also start with lung fire.

1. Pumpkin

Pumpkin can prevent chapped lips, nasal bleeding and dry skin, etc. It can enhance the body's immunity and improve the symptoms of autumn dryness. Eat pumpkin in moderation. The daily amount should not exceed that of a staple meal, but not too little either. You can make "pumpkin and purple rice porridge".

Preparation method: Slice the pumpkin, wash the rice and jujube, put them into the pot together with the pumpkin slices, add water and cook. Boil it over high heat first, then use low heat and cook until the rice is soft.

2. Loquat

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that loquat is sweet and sour in taste, and has a neutral nature. It has the effects of moistening the lungs and relieving cough, quenching thirst and harmonizing the stomach, and promoting diuresis and clearing heat. It is used to treat pulmonary tuberculosis, cough, chest tightness and excessive phlegm. It is very suitable for consumption in autumn and also has a disease prevention effect.

3. Dried fruits and green leafy vegetables

Dried fruits and green leafy vegetables are the best sources of magnesium and folic acid. A body lacking in magnesium and folic acid is prone to anxiety. Magnesium is an important cardiotonic substance that allows the heart to maintain sufficient power in the dry season. Folic acid can ensure the quality of blood and thus improve the nutrient absorption of the nervous system.

You can eat more lotus root, sea fish, bananas, walnuts, melon seeds, hazelnuts, spinach, celery, lettuce, etc.

Vitamins B1 and B6 are most abundant in whole grains and beans. You can eat whole grain rice or porridge 3 to 5 times a week, such as pearl barley, coix seed, corn kernels, red beans, soybeans and rice. In addition, you can eat brown rice biscuits, brown rice cakes, whole wheat bread, etc. often.
