How to preserve pure milk in summer

In the summer, due to the generally high temperature, many things are prone to bacteria and spoilage. Pure milk is a drink that we drink all year round, but it will easily go bad if it is not properly stored in the summer. Anyone who has ever smelled spoiled pure milk should know that the smell of spoiled pure milk is very unpleasant. So how should pure milk be stored in summer?

1. Milk should be stored in a cool place in summer

Fresh milk should be placed in a cool place immediately. Do not expose the milk to the sun or light. It is best to put it in the refrigerator. Because sunlight and light will destroy several vitamins in milk, the B vitamins in fresh milk will quickly disappear if exposed to sunlight for more than one minute. Even under weak sunlight, after 6 hours of exposure, only half of the B vitamins remain.

2. Tips for preserving milk in summer

When milk is placed in the refrigerator, it needs to be sealed to prevent other odors from entering the milk. Be sure to pay attention to the storage conditions on the milk label. Fresh milk and yogurt that need to be refrigerated should not be left at room temperature for a long time. After the milk is delivered to your home, it must be drunk in the morning. If you drink it at home in the evening, it may go bad.

3. Preservation of fresh milk is forbidden to be frozen

In daily life, people often freeze leftover milk in the refrigerator, which seems to extend its shelf life, but the quality is very different from that of fresh milk. When fresh milk is frozen, the first thing that happens is freezing, such as milk fat, milk protein, lactose, etc. appearing in different crystallization states, resulting in the upper layer of frozen milk being soft milk fat, and the middle and lower layers being crystals of protein, lactose and its milk solids.

When the frozen milk is melted again, the protein coagulates and becomes a precipitate, which becomes incompatible with the floating milk fat and the water originally contained in the milk, making the milk no longer a colloidal emulsion like fresh milk. The nutritional value of milk at this time has also decreased, and it no longer has the milky flavor of fresh milk. The vitamins have been destroyed, and vitamin A alone has been lost by more than 30%, so fresh milk should not be frozen.
