What to do if the stab is stuck in the flesh and can't be removed

People often get pricked on their hands due to various carelessness in their daily lives. For example, there are thorns on wooden objects that may prick their hands. There are also families who keep cacti at home. People may accidentally touch the cacti and the thorns may pierce the skin. The thorns in the skin should be removed as soon as possible and disinfected at the same time. So what if the thorn gets stuck in the flesh and can’t be taken out?

Remove the splinter as soon as possible. Grasp the splinter tightly with your fingers and remove it slowly, even if it hurts.

If the wound is too deep, you can use tweezers or a needle to pick it out. Tweezers or a needle can be disinfected with alcohol and then gently spread open the wound to remove the complete splinter.

Squeeze out the blood clots in the wound. The blood clots in the wound may be poisonous, so they must be squeezed out.

Rinse with clean water. Use running water to carefully rinse the wound and the surrounding area to wash away the remaining blood clots.

Then wipe with alcohol or iodine for disinfection. After the above washing, scrub the wound with alcohol or iodine.

If the wound is red and swollen, you can use ice cubes or ice water to cool it down and reduce swelling.

Even if a splinter that has penetrated too deeply is removed, you should still go to the hospital to get a tetanus antitoxin injection just in case.

If the thorn is very small, it will not cause serious purulent infection if removed in time. However, if it is deep and not removed in time, infection is possible. It is recommended to remove the small one in time to prevent infection and avoid causing the wound to be too large. Don't worry.

If a thorn is stuck in the flesh, you can use a needle to pull it out, but you need to wipe and disinfect the needle tip with iodine first, and then wipe the skin with iodine. If the skin around the thorn is not red or swollen, you don't need to take any medicine.

In this case, you must go to the hospital immediately and let the doctor perform local treatment to pull out the thorn. Otherwise, it will easily cause infection or granuloma, which will be very difficult to treat. Don't delay and treat it as soon as possible.
