Is the hair dye pen poisonous

Hair dyeing has become a symbol of modern people's pursuit of fashion and beauty. Many people like to dye their hair, one for the sake of looking good, and the other for covering up the original color of the hair. When hair dyeing first became popular, you could only go to a hair dye shop. Later, with the emergence of some hair dye products, hair dyeing can be easily done at home. Hair dye is one of them. Many people say that excessive hair dyeing can cause cancer. So are hair dye pens toxic?

1. Disposable hair dye pens can dye the hair with a layer of color in a short period of time. They are most suitable for highlighting and covering gray hair, and are not suitable for covering the entire area of the hair. They also contain certain chemicals. Although they will not cause great harm like dyes, they still have some effects on the scalp.

2. A skin test must be done before dyeing your hair. The method is to drop the dye on the same point on the inside of your wrist and wait for it to dry naturally. If redness, swelling, itching, etc. occur during this process, the product should not be used any further.

3. Do not wash your hair before dyeing it. First, the oil secreted by the scalp can protect the scalp. Second, it can avoid accidentally scratching the scalp during shampooing. If there is a wound on the scalp and it comes into contact with hair dye, it can easily cause inflammation. So when it’s time to dye your hair, you can wash your hair with clean water, and then use a color-protecting shampoo and conditioner for the final wash and hair care.

4. Before dyeing your hair, you should apply lotion or cream on the hairline and behind the ears to prevent the hair dye from getting on your skin and causing damage to it. And don’t dye your hair too frequently.

5. Allergies caused by hair dyeing are relatively common. Among people who dye their hair, about 10% have experienced allergies. The symptoms include itchy scalp, redness and swelling, rash, blisters, and even affecting the entire face and body. Some individuals may even experience anaphylactic shock immediately after use, which may be life-threatening if they do not receive timely treatment.

6. Hair dyes can enter the human body through the skin and hair follicles, be metabolized by the liver and kidneys, and cause damage to liver and kidney functions. However, due to the strong compensatory function of the liver and kidneys, generally no obvious discomfort will occur.
