Don’t worry, if there is a “5” marked on the bottom of the cup, you can safely fill it with hot water. No. 5 plastic material, polypropylene (PP), is the most heat-resistant plastic. If you observe carefully, you will find that plastic tableware for microwave ovens and some baby bottles are made of it and can be reused after cleaning.

4. How do you know whether a PP plastic cup is good or bad? Generally speaking, this plastic material is milky white, translucent and has a uniform color.

Some also add transparent agents (harmless to the human body) to make it completely transparent. Pay special attention not to choose those with strange smells or colors.

It is recommended to do this less in the future. This type of cup is usually made of No. 7 plastic material polycarbonate (PC). It is highly transparent, hard, smooth to the touch, and strong and resistant to falling. Bisphenol A is an endocrine disruptor. If there is any bisphenol A left in PC, the higher the temperature, the more it will be released, so PC bottles cannot be used to hold hot water.
