What are the symptoms of cholestasis?

What are the symptoms of cholestasis?

In most cases, physical illness is unpredictable and will only manifest itself more clearly when the disease develops to a certain stage. Therefore, people should detect and diagnose any symptoms of physical discomfort in advance. Visceral diseases are relatively difficult to diagnose. For example, the symptoms of cholestasis are almost impossible to diagnose and can easily cause chronic diseases in the patient's body. Let's take a look at the symptoms of cholestasis.

Cholestasis is common mainly in pregnant women. Cholestasis of pregnancy is a condition that occurs only during pregnancy and disappears after the pregnancy ends. Pruritus occurs before jaundice appears, and jaundice is usually mild or moderate, much milder than itching. Pruritus first appears in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, is more severe at night, and has no specific rash.

The main manifestations are as follows:

(1) Generalized itching first occurs in the middle and late stages of pregnancy and is more severe at night, with no specific rash.

(2) There is no history of hepatitis or contact with the patient, and there are often no gastrointestinal symptoms or liver enlargement, and no percussion pain or tenderness.

(3) Jaundice only occurs during pregnancy and disappears after the pregnancy ends. Pruritus occurs before jaundice appears. Jaundice is usually mild or moderate, much milder than itching.

Health care measures:

1. This disease is a special condition that only occurs in pregnant women, with a prevalence rate of approximately 2.3%-3.4%. To prevent postpartum hemorrhage, vitamin K can be supplemented before delivery.

2. Pay attention to changes in the patient's bile acid concentration. Once it increases abnormally, cooperate with the physician promptly to terminate the pregnancy to prevent intrauterine fetal death.

3. There is currently no specific drug treatment. Cholestyramine has a certain effect on relieving itching. Phenobarbital can not only relieve itching, but also help to fall asleep at night. In order to prevent postpartum hemorrhage, vitamin K can be supplemented before delivery.
