Pepper white spot disease is a disease of pepper. When this disease occurs, peppers will have spots on them. This phenomenon will appear on young leaves, and then the leaves will gradually turn yellow and finally fall off. Generally speaking, the petals and fruits of peppers will not become sick. It is contagious to a certain extent. When planting peppers, you must pay attention to prevention and control. You should choose disease-resistant pepper varieties and strengthen field management at ordinary times.

Pepper white spot disease, the pathogen's Latin name, English name Stemphylium lycopersici (Enjoji) Yamamoto, mainly harms leaves, with initial 1 to 2 mm brown spots, later edges turn brown, the center is grayish white and slightly concave, especially on young leaves. At first, the spots expand slowly, and then gradually form ring-like shapes. When the humidity is high, the spots merge into irregular spots, causing the diseased leaves to turn yellow or fall off. The stem is infected and forms 5-10 mm long spots. Other parts may also produce irregular brown spots. Petals and fruits are generally not infected.

Mode of transmission

The pathogen can overwinter on diseased debris or seeds in the soil. The following year, the temperature and humidity are suitable to produce conidia for primary infection. The spores are spread by wind and rain for secondary infection. Warm and humid weather, rainy days and long duration of condensation are important conditions for the disease. Generally, the soil fertility is insufficient, the plants grow weak and suffer from serious diseases.

Prevention and treatment methods

(1) Select disease-resistant varieties. (2) Strengthen field management, increase the application of organic fertilizers and phosphorus and potassium fertilizers; spray 7500 times diluted Zhibaosu or 4000 times diluted Duoxiaohao to enhance the host's disease resistance. (3) After harvesting, remove diseased and damaged parts promptly and burn them in batches.
