If sweaty hands are not hereditary, will they be passed on to the next generation if they are cured?

Some people find that their palms often sweat when the weather is hot. Sometimes, this condition is caused by genetic factors. So, if non-hereditary sweaty hands are treated, will they be passed on to the next generation? Experts tell everyone, don’t worry, it won’t happen. For some diseases that are not caused by genetics, the probability of inheritance is actually very small.

Many people have excessive sweating hands and are not aware that they have hyperhidrosis. When the temperature rises in the summer or when you are nervous, it is normal for your palms to sweat slightly. But if under normal circumstances, the palms of your hands keep sweating, so that sweat drips when your hands hang down, this is abnormal. Medically, it is called hyperhidrosis of the hands. So will hyperhidrosis of hands be passed on to the next generation?

Most patients with hand hyperhidrosis are congenitally inherited.

As the weather gets hotter, many friends who have excessive sweating hands have asked for relevant information. Sweat glands are widely distributed throughout the human body, especially in the hands and feet, where people sweat profusely. Most patients with hyperhidrosis of the hands have a congenital genetic disorder, and some suffer from sweating disorders due to neurological disorders. Most patients experience an outbreak around puberty. Symptoms are generally mild, with only a feeling of sweating. However, sweat secretion increases when one is nervous, such as when taking exams, answering questions, or speaking on stage.

However, we must also pay attention to distinguish between primary hyperhidrosis of the hands and secondary hyperhidrosis of the hands. Secondary hyperhidrosis of the hands occurs after certain diseases, such as hyperthyroidism, menopausal syndrome, mental disorders, and during certain endocrine treatments, which can cause increased sweating of the hands. Primary hyperhidrosis of the hands is caused by hyperactivity of the sympathetic nervous system, and our target group for treatment is patients with primary hyperhidrosis of the hands.

About 12% of patients with hyperhidrosis have a family history

Hyperhidrosis of hands does not pose a major threat to physical health, but symptoms such as excessive sweating of hands can easily cause a certain degree of trouble to the patient's life and work, especially in summer. Hyperhidrosis of hands affects both men and women and is more common among Asians.

According to previous surveys and studies, 2% to 4% of people in my country suffer from hyperhidrosis of hands, of which about 12% have a family history. People who tend to sweat too much have wet palms most of the time, and long-term wet hands can cause the skin to peel easily, which is unsightly. This disease brings many inconveniences to work, study, life and social interaction, and even causes psychological disorders and social phobia in many people.
