Is it okay to use laundry soap after its expiration date?

Laundry soap has a shelf life. Many people are using laundry soap now. It is different from food. People care more about the shelf life of food, but often ignore the shelf life of laundry soap. They feel that expired laundry soap will not cause any harm to the body. In fact, laundry soap also has a shelf life. If the laundry soap is expired, it will cause certain damage to the skin. The following editor will tell you whether laundry soap has a shelf life.

1. Transparent laundry soap: Strictly speaking, it should be called translucent soap, commonly known as "transparent soap". It is the mainstream variety on the market. There are tiny crystalline particles in the translucent block soap, which can partially pass light and appear translucent. It has rich foam, mild performance, good detergency, fresh fragrance and other advantages and is widely loved by consumers. It is a kind of high-quality and inexpensive cleaning product.

2. Whitening laundry soap: By adding fluorescent brighteners, it is particularly effective in washing white fabrics, giving them a white and refreshing appearance, and is increasingly recognized by consumers.

3. Plant laundry soap: It is formulated with all plant oils, which is safer and more environmentally friendly to use, and has no strange smell of animal oils. As consumers pay more and more attention to safety and environmental protection, this type of laundry soap will have a good market prospect.

4. Ordinary laundry soap: a low-end product with a gradually shrinking market, mainly because it causes great harm to the skin during washing.

Wash with soap as much as possible

The raw materials of soap come from salts formed by animal and plant fats, fatty acids and alkali. They are easily biodegradable, less irritating to the human body, and less polluting to water. They are much less polluting than general chemical synthetic detergents. Washing powder contains surfactants. If it comes into contact with the skin for a long time, trace amounts of washing powder will enter the body and cause poisoning. Some people use laundry detergent as a "universal cleaner". In addition to washing clothes, they also use it to wash their hair and hands, wash fruits, vegetables, and dishes, and scrub furniture and floors. They believe that it has the effects of removing dirt, disinfecting, and killing bacteria. Little do people know that this will endanger human health. It is best not to use laundry detergent for diapers, underwear and panties of infants and young children. It is better to use soap instead.

Soap and laundry detergent can be mixed

Some people often believe that "soap is alkaline and washing powder is acidic" and that the two should not be mixed, otherwise the acid and alkali will neutralize each other and offset the cleaning effect. Is it really so?

In fact, soap and laundry detergent are all alkaline, with a pH value of 9 to 11. There is no such thing as "acid-base neutralization". The main ingredient of soap is sodium, a higher fatty acid, which will combine with calcium and magnesium ions in water to form precipitation, affecting its detergency. The sodium tripolyphosphate contained in washing powder has the effect of complexing calcium and magnesium ions and softening hard water, which can improve the detergency of soap; furthermore, the soap and the sodium alkylbenzene sulfonate in the washing powder can produce a "synergistic detergency effect", which improves the detergency of both. Soap can inhibit the foaming ability of detergent, making clothes easier to rinse. High-efficiency low-foam laundry detergent contains 3% to 5% soap. Therefore, the two do not conflict with each other, and mixing them is beneficial rather than harmful.

When buying laundry soap, you should pay attention to the shelf life. Generally, the shelf life of laundry soap is three years. When washing, you can apply more laundry soap to dirty areas and repeat the washing several times. Avoid getting the laundry soap into your eyes. If it comes into contact with your eyes, wash it immediately. Put the used laundry soap in a dry place to avoid being soaked by water. It is best to wash clothes with warm water when the weather is cold.
