My knee hurts when I put force

There is a saying among the people that "the legs are the first to deteriorate when people get old", which shows how important the health of our legs is to us. As people age, their knee joints age slowly and are prone to pain, especially when exerting force. In addition to middle-aged and elderly people, leg pain is becoming more common among younger people. Many young people also experience knee pain when exerting force. So what is going on?

When talking about knee problems, we need to have a concept. First of all, the structure. The thigh bone or femur and the tibia and fibula of the calf, as well as the kneecap, which is also known as the patella, constitute the knee joint. Between the femur and tibia are two large cartilage disks called the medial and lateral menisci. There is a groove at the front and lower end of the femur that fits the patella and allows the patella to move up and down in the groove. The cartilage on the surface of these joints can absorb shock and withstand pressure until they malfunction.

The knee joint is a large and complex flexion joint in the human body. It is subjected to great stress and has a stable and flexible structure. Knee pain occurs from time to time, and this pain is often ignored or arbitrarily attributed to diseases such as arthritis. In fact, there are many reasons that cause knee pain.

Common injuries that can cause knee pain include:

1. Meniscus injury

2. Fat pad strain

3. Bone hyperplasia

4. Osteoarthritis of the knee

5. Knee ligament injury: The stability of the knee joint when slightly bent is relatively poor

Methods/Steps

Meniscus injury Meniscus injury is a common injury among athletes. Cartilage, especially the meniscus, is the most vulnerable part of the human body during exercise. When the lower limbs are weight-bearing, the feet are fixed, and the knee joints are slightly flexed, if the knee is suddenly excessively internally rotated or externally extended (for example, in volleyball, when a player suddenly turns around and dives to save the ball while defending), it may cause a meniscus tear. Meniscus injury will cause an obvious tearing feeling in the knee, followed by joint pain, limited movement, and limping when walking. The joints show swelling and a feeling of slipping, and there is a popping sound when the joints move.

But this situation should not be within your consideration. There are countless NBA stars affected by meniscus injuries. You can look at Brandon Roy's injury history. Then you can probably understand the concept.

Fat pad strain

The fat pad fills the gap in the front of the knee joint, which strengthens the joint stability and reduces friction. The cause of fat pad strain may be due to trauma or long-term friction that causes the fat pad to become congested, thickened and inflamed, and adhere to the patellar ligament, thereby limiting the movement of the knee joint. This type of injury often occurs in people over 30 who frequently walk, climb mountains, or squat. Patients will feel pain in the knee joint, which worsens when it is fully extended, but the joint movement is not restricted. Symptoms are obvious after exertion.

Consider bone hyperplasia. Knee bone hyperplasia is a chronic joint disease characterized by degenerative lesions of articular cartilage and adjacent bones, which eventually causes joint pain and stiffness and is one of the important reasons affecting health status. Degenerative changes in the knee joint, wear and thinning of the articular cartilage followed by secondary bone hyperplasia, this disease is generally manifested as joint pain, especially when going up and down stairs, the pain is more severe, inability to squat, etc. It is a sterile inflammation, and injections and anti-inflammatory drugs cannot eliminate sterile inflammation. In addition to choosing pure Chinese herbal plasters for treatment, external treatment is safe and has no side effects and can be said to be the most ideal treatment method. It not only avoids the gastrointestinal discomfort and liver and kidney damage caused by oral analgesics, but also avoids the pain of surgery and the occurrence of postoperative complications, and is less likely to relapse after recovery.

Knee joint osteoarthritis is a disease that is more common in middle-aged and elderly people, mostly women. Excessive weight load is the main cause of disease. Arthritis causes swelling and pain, and sometimes a grinding sound when the joint is moved. The knee may develop a varus deformity with medial pain.

Knee ligament injury: The stability of the knee joint is relatively poor when it is slightly flexed. If it is suddenly subjected to external force and causes eversion or inversion at this time, it may cause injury to the medial or lateral collateral ligament. Medial collateral ligament injuries account for the vast majority of clinical cases. Taking this injury as an example, the patient will have a clear history of trauma, pain and tenderness on the medial side of the knee, pain that worsens when the calf is passively abducted, swelling on the medial side of the knee, and ecchymosis after a few days. Knee joint movement may be restricted. The above five injuries that cause knee pain cannot be healed by daily care alone.

In daily life, most joint pains are not caused by trauma. Prolonged cold joints and huge temperature differences are the main causes of joint pain. Especially in autumn, when the weather alternates between cold and warm, low temperatures or huge temperature differences can cause muscle and blood vessel contraction, causing joint pain. If you encounter this situation, the first thing to do is to keep warm as much as possible, you can use hot compresses; the second thing is to reduce the amount of exercise and let the joints rest. If the above methods do not improve the knee pain, you should go to the hospital to find out the cause.

Another possibility is that you need to grow taller, but this kind of pain is bearable. Because I don't know where exactly the pain is. So after a little massage to relieve the pain, you can go to the doctor for consultation.

Inspection method

Lie flat on the bed (if you are alone, sit on the bed with your legs straight, your legs must be straight, otherwise you will not feel anything), place the base of your hand on the upper part of your knee, hold it to make sure that the knee cannot move forward and backward, then use your thigh to exert force, if you feel obvious pain, it means that the soft tissue in the knee is damaged, if the pain is severe, it means that the soft tissue is aging.
