How to distinguish between prostate cancer and prostate hyperplasia

Xiao Wang has been frowning recently. He is too embarrassed to talk to anyone about his recent symptoms. After hesitating for a long time, Xiao Wang went to the hospital and told the doctor about his physical condition: In the past few months, Xiao Wang found that his urethra was slightly red and swollen, he had weak urination, thin urine, and he often had to wait for a long time before urinating. He always felt that he had not urinated completely. Recently, he felt a pulling sensation when doing pelvic floor exercises. After searching online for a long time, some people said it was prostate hyperplasia, and some said it was prostate cancer. Xiao Wang was so scared that he dared not delay any longer and went directly to the hospital. While waiting for the test results, the doctor analyzed the difference between prostate cancer and prostate hyperplasia for Xiao Wang.

Prostatic hyperplasia is a benign disease. The lesions are mainly located in the submucosal glands of the urethra, close to the urethra, which can easily cause urethral obstruction. In the early stages, there is an increase in the frequency of nocturia, followed by difficulty urinating and hematuria. The prognosis is usually good.

Prostate cancer is a malignant tumor with no obvious symptoms in the early stage. When prostate cancer invades the urethra, symptoms such as thinning urine flow, urinary pain, and frequent urination may occur. In addition to urinary system symptoms, cancer cells can also metastasize to other systems and cause symptoms, such as pain in the waist, sacrum, and hips, or sciatica, and sometimes chest pain and cough.

When men have difficulty urinating, the first thing to consider is prostate hyperplasia, but the possibility of prostate cancer cannot be ignored. CT and other examinations should be performed to confirm the diagnosis.
