A hard abscess on the chin

A hard abscess on the chin

In life, everyone will encounter such a situation, that is, a hard abscess grows on the chin, which hurts when touched, but cannot be pricked, so one can only wait for it to heal on its own or apply medicine. However, if not handled properly, it may cause acne marks on the chin. Therefore, the editor recommends that if you find a hard abscess on your chin, do not rush to squeeze it out. You need to understand the cause before taking any action. Can you explain specifically what causes hard pustules on the chin?

1. Folliculitis

This disease is a purulent inflammation caused by bacterial infection of the entire hair follicle. Initially it appears as red papules, which gradually evolve into papular pustules, which are isolated and scattered, and cause mild pain. In adults, it mainly occurs in hairy areas, and in children, it is more common on the head. The rashes can sometimes merge with each other, and small bald spots may remain after healing. The pathogens are mainly Staphylococci, and Staphylococcus epidermidis can sometimes be isolated. Uncleanliness, scratching and low body resistance may be the causes of this disease.

2. Acne

The occurrence of acne is closely related to factors such as excessive sebum secretion, blockage of the sebaceous gland ducts of the hair follicles, bacterial infection and inflammatory response. After entering puberty, the level of androgens, especially testosterone, in the human body increases rapidly, promoting the development of sebaceous glands and producing a large amount of sebum. At the same time, abnormal keratinization of the sebaceous gland ducts of the hair follicles causes blockage of the ducts, hindering the excretion of sebum and forming keratin plugs, also known as micro-acne. Various microorganisms, especially Propionibacterium acnes, multiply in large numbers in the hair follicles. The lipase produced by Propionibacterium acnes breaks down sebum to produce free fatty acids, while also attracting inflammatory cells and mediators, ultimately inducing and aggravating the inflammatory response.

Causes

1) Internal factors

Endocrine dysfunction, increased or relatively high secretion of male hormones, stimulates the hypertrophy and proliferation of sebaceous glands, and increases the amount of oil secretion.

2) Causes

Neuropsychiatric factors; dietary factors; personal behavioral factors such as defecation and sleep; hobby factors such as smoking and drinking, drug factors, cosmetics and skin conditioning factors, etc.
