How to treat inflammation in the lungs

We must take good care of our lungs in our daily lives, because our breathing in life and some of our personal organs rely on the lungs. If there is a problem with lung function, it also means that the patient's body is beginning to have problems and the lungs are inflamed. The first task to treat it is to find a method.

What is Mycoplasma pneumonia?

Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia is an acute lung infection caused by Mycoplasma pneumoniae, characterized by interstitial lung lesions. It accounts for a high proportion of community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) in my country. Clinically, it is collectively referred to as "primary atypical pneumonia" together with pneumonia caused by other atypical pathogens such as Legionella pneumophila, Chlamydia pneumoniae and Rickettsia.

What are the epidemic characteristics of Mycoplasma pneumonia?

It is generally believed that the prevalence of Mycoplasma pneumonia is less affected by climate and season. The incidence rate in my country is higher in autumn and winter, which may be related to the increase in indoor activities, poor air circulation and close contact between people in autumn and winter. Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia can occur at any age, but it accounts for a higher proportion in young and middle-aged CAP patients without underlying diseases. The results of a nationwide adult CAP survey in my country showed that the infection rates of Mycoplasma pneumoniae in the age group under 30 years old and the age group between 31 and 50 years old were as high as 32.8% and 27.8%, respectively, which are much higher than those in middle-aged and elderly patients over 50 years old.

What are the clinical manifestations of Mycoplasma pneumonia?

The incubation period for clinical manifestations and general laboratory tests is 1 to 3 weeks. The onset of the disease is diverse. Most patients only suffer from low-grade fever and fatigue, while some patients may experience sudden high fever accompanied by obvious symptoms of systemic poisoning such as headache, myalgia and nausea. The most prominent respiratory symptom is dry cough, which often lasts for more than 4 weeks and is often accompanied by obvious sore throat, occasionally chest pain, and blood in sputum. Among the symptoms other than respiratory tract symptoms, ear pain and measles-like or scarlet fever-like rash are the most common. A very small number of patients may also have concomitant gastroenteritis, pericarditis, myocarditis, meningoencephalitis, myelitis, hemolytic anemia, disseminated intravascular coagulation, arthritis and hepatitis. Positive signs include significant pharyngeal congestion and tympanic membrane congestion, and a few patients may have cervical lymphadenopathy. There are usually no positive signs in the lungs, and dry or wet rales may be heard in a few patients. The total white blood cell count and neutrophil ratio in peripheral blood are generally normal, but may be elevated in a few patients.

How to treat Mycoplasma pneumonia?

Anti-infection treatment: Macrolide antibiotics, fluoroquinolones, tetracycline antibiotics such as doxycycline and minocycline are commonly used drugs for the treatment of Mycoplasma pneumonia, but studies have found that macrolide resistance is high in Mycoplasma pneumonia. Generally, the course of anti-infection treatment takes 10 to 14 days. For some refractory cases, the course of treatment can be extended to about 3 weeks. However, complete absorption of lung shadows should not be used as an indication for discontinuing antibiotics.
