Do wet towels have more bacteria than dry ones?

Towels are daily necessities that everyone needs. Many people do not pay much attention to hygiene in this regard. For example, they put towels randomly and do not change towels regularly, etc. These practices are all health risks. We need to remind everyone that there will be some nutrients on the towels, so bacterial infection may occur. So which one is more likely to breed bacteria, a wet towel or a dry towel?

Do wet towels have more bacteria than dry ones?

A wet towel, of course.

In the northern indoor environment (dry) and the southern indoor environment (humid), the bacteria on towels exceeded the standard after 40 days and 20 days of use respectively. Towels breed bacteria faster and more easily under humid conditions than under dry conditions.

[Reminder] Under drying conditions, the number of washes has a relatively large impact on bacterial growth. The bacterial growth is slower after each wash and drying. Therefore, it is recommended to replace towels every 3 months while disinfecting them regularly.

Boiling in boiling water and steaming in a pressure cooker will affect the color fastness and strength of the towel, and is not recommended for frequent use. Microwave disinfection is reliable, kills bacteria quickly, and has no adverse reactions like chemical disinfectants. It is a more rational disinfection method. It is recommended that towels should be disinfected at high temperature every 7 to 10 days.

In addition, soap and perfumed soap are alkaline, and towels tend to become hard after washing, so it is best to use a neutral detergent.

In the summer, you might notice a detail like this: the wet towel has a smell, a sour smell, maybe sweat, but why isn’t it like this in the winter? The reason is very simple. The temperature is high in summer, which causes the water in the towel to deteriorate and become smelly. This is also the condition required for bacteria to reproduce - humidity + temperature. Therefore, it is recommended to wash it frequently with soap, cool it on the balcony after use, let it dry naturally, disinfect and expose it to the sun once a week, so that bacteria will not have much chance to reproduce! For disinfection, you can generally use 84 disinfectant. A bottle of 84 disinfectant costs about 6 yuan, which is not very expensive. One bottle can be used for a whole summer.

First of all, towels are a necessity in daily life.

Secondly, the bathroom is relatively damp and dark, which is easy to breed bacteria.

At best, most bathrooms are not ventilated.

Therefore, it is best to cool the towel in a ventilated and dry place.

Avoid sun exposure as it may cause white spots on the skin.
