In life, we often see patients with congenital tooth deformities. The teeth of such patients often show symptoms such as unevenness, buck teeth or tooth deformities, which may even affect the patient's normal pronunciation and chewing, and even affect the aesthetics. The best way to deal with the above situations is to perform orthodontics. Orthodontics also needs to be performed according to the patient's age. So, what age is suitable for tooth correction? First, what age is suitable for orthodontic treatment? After three years old, around five years old. This is early correction during the deciduous dentition period. There are relatively few dental deformities that require intervention at this stage. The most common one is the crossbite during the deciduous dentition period, commonly known as "underbite". Parents need to take their children to consult an orthodontist to determine whether children of this age can or need early correction. Second, tooth replacement begins at the age of 6 and continues until the age of 12, because all parts of the child's body will grow rapidly at this stage, including the facial bones and dental system. Therefore, some dental corrections that we hope to utilize the growth potential of the jaw need to be performed at this stage. Third, from the age of 12 to 18, most children have completed their tooth replacement and entered the permanent tooth period. However, compared with adults, they have more vigorous metabolism and tissue regeneration capabilities, which is relatively the best stage for orthodontic treatment. Fourth, the best time for children is 12-18 years old. For adults, as long as they do not have periodontal disease, they can still receive orthodontic treatment even if they are in their seventies or eighties. However, there are the following problems with ordinary Yaliang cosmetic braces for correcting teeth: the correction period is relatively long; it is inconvenient to brush teeth; you cannot drink carbonated beverages, which will cause tooth pigmentation, and there will be color difference after removing the braces. Also, food that is too sweet can cause tooth decay. Ordinary steel braces used in general plastic surgery are made of metal materials such as nickel-chromium and beryllium. Although they are cheap, the harm caused by metal substances is obvious. Moreover, steel braces cannot be exposed to hard objects to prevent the braces from falling off frequently and affecting the progress. What age is suitable for orthodontic treatment? The age stages mentioned above are just average values. There may be small changes and fluctuations for each child. The second point is that even if we miss the so-called best period for correction, as long as our periodontal tissues are healthy, adults or the elderly can completely undergo orthodontic treatment, because each age has a tooth correction plan that belongs to each age. |
