The role of lipstick

Since lipstick is a cosmetic that is applied to the lips and is likely to be ingested during diet, the color pigments must be approved by the competent authorities. Looking back at the history of lipstick, it has undergone many significant changes, and market demand has developed many new processes and new products. There are two types of tests for lipstick: heat test and break test.

In the heat test, the lipstick is placed in a holder and then placed in an oven, where it is heated at a constant temperature of over 130 degrees Fahrenheit (54 degrees Celsius) for 24 hours. If the lipstick doesn't melt, shrink or lose its shape, it passes muster. In the fracture test, the lipstick was placed in two holders. Place weights on the holder where the lipstick is, every 30 seconds until the lipstick breaks (or cracks). The pressure required to break the lipstick was then checked to see if it met the standards set by the manufacturer. Because there is no industry standard for these tests, each manufacturer sets their own criteria.
