Precursors of rabies

Precursors of rabies

Rabies is a disease that people fear most nowadays besides cancer. It is even more frightening than cancer because once a person is infected with rabies, the mortality rate is 100% and the person will die within just one week. So you still have to pay attention. The precursors of rabies are low fever, headache, irritability, fear and anxiety in most people. You should be aware of them, but rabies is relatively rare after all, so don't be too afraid.

1. In the early stages of rabies, patients often have symptoms such as low fever, headache, general laziness, nausea, irritability, fear and anxiety. Then, the patient becomes extremely sensitive to stimuli such as sound, light or wind, and immediately feels a tightness in the throat when slightly stimulated. There are also abnormal sensations of numbness, itching and pain around the wounds caused by bites from sick animals, and it feels like ants are crawling on the hands, feet and limbs.

2. After two or three days, the condition enters the excitement phase. The patient is in a highly agitated state. The prominent symptoms are extreme fear, fear of water and wind. When encountering sounds, light, wind, etc., the muscles in the throat will experience severe spasms. Although the patient is very thirsty, he dare not drink water, and he cannot swallow the water after drinking it. Even if he hears the sound of running water or others talk about water, he will experience throat spasm. In severe cases, patients may also experience painful convulsions throughout the body, leading to difficulty breathing. Most rabies patients are conscious; however, some patients become mentally ill and talk nonsense.

3. After about two or three days of excitement, the patient becomes quiet, but then becomes paralyzed all over, and his respiratory and circulatory systems fail. He quickly falls into a coma and dies after a dozen hours. The course of rabies usually does not exceed 6 days.

4. Hydrophobia is one of the unique symptoms of most furious rabies. Hydrophobia has not been seen in other diseases, so it is very pathogenic.

5. Rabies is an acute infectious disease caused by the rabies virus that can infect both humans and animals. It is also known as hydrophobia, mad dog disease, etc. Rabies virus is mainly transmitted between animals. The disease is mainly transmitted through the rabies virus in the saliva carried on the teeth of animals when they bite people, which invades the human body. Once rabies occurs, it progresses very quickly, mostly within 3-5 days, rarely exceeding 10 days, and the mortality rate is 100%.

6. The incubation period of this disease varies in length, generally 15 days, and can be up to several months or even years in some cases. According to WHO verification, the longest incubation period is 6 years. The length of the incubation period is related to the virulence, concentration, level of immunity, and location of the infection.

7. The main symptoms are paralysis, including paralysis of muscles throughout the body, difficulty in standing up, inability to get up from the ground, convulsions, prolapse of the tongue, drooling, and finally paralysis of the respiratory center or failure and death.
