Is it a boy or a girl if the fetal heart rate is fast?

Is it a boy or a girl if the fetal heart rate is fast?

Parenting experts say that under normal circumstances, the fetal heartbeat is 120 to 160 beats per minute. Heartbeats within this range are very normal. If the fetal heartbeat is lower than 120, it is called tachycardia. If it is higher than 160, it is called tachycardia. We need to remind everyone that because the fetal heart rate is often in the process of changing, it must be monitored for a period of time so that the results are convincing. If the test result shows that the fetal heart rate is relatively fast, how can we determine the gender of the fetus?

Is it a boy or a girl if the fetal heart rate is fast?

There is a folk saying that if the fetal heart rate is lower than 140 beats/minute, the fetus is a boy. Generally speaking, girls have a higher heart rate than boys, which has nothing to do with the gender of the fetus.

The normal heart rate of the fetus is between 120 beats/minute and 160 beats/minute. Experts point out that special instruments are needed to listen to the fetal heart rate. The fetal heart rate can be heard in a very quiet environment with a Doppler stethoscope around 12 weeks of pregnancy. It is recommended that expectant mothers go to the hospital to listen to the fetal heart rate, or use a fetal talker at home. The mobile phone software of the fetal talker also has a gender test function.

A fast fetal heart rate may be related to the following situations: 1. The fetal heart rate may speed up during fetal movement, sometimes exceeding 160 beats/minute, or even reaching 180 beats/minute, but it will quickly return to normal after the fetal movement stops. 2. Fetal intrauterine hypoxia caused by maternal and fetal complications. 3. Comorbidities or complications of the pregnant woman herself. For example, when a pregnant woman has a fever or hyperthyroidism, her heart rate is often very fast and the fetal heart rate often exceeds 160 beats/minute. 4. The use of certain drugs by pregnant women, such as atropine and salbutamol sulfate or ritodrine hydrochloride used to preserve premature delivery, can cause the mother and child's heart rate to accelerate. 5. Abnormal fetal heart development, etc. 6. Fetal distress Fetal distress is the phenomenon of fetal hypoxia and asphyxia. Chronic distress due to placental insufficiency caused by post-term pregnancy, pregnancy-induced hypertension or diabetes.

What to do if the fetal heart rate is fast

If the fetal heart rate is too fast, especially in the late pregnancy, it is important to analyze the cause and, if necessary, perform B-ultrasound and fetal heart monitoring to assist in diagnosis. First, consider whether the fast fetal heart rate occurs when the fetus moves and returns to normal after the movement. If the pregnant woman has no comorbidities or complications, and the fetal heart rate is fast during fetal movement and returns to normal after the movement, there is no need to worry, as this is normal.

If the pregnant woman has comorbidities or complications, such as gestational hypertension, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, etc., especially if the fetal heart rate is fast in the late pregnancy, it is necessary to have a B-ultrasound check to understand the condition of the amniotic fluid, placenta and placental blood flow, and perform fetal heart monitoring to understand whether the fetus is suffering from hypoxia. If the pregnant woman has a fever or has taken the drugs mentioned above that can speed up the fetal heart rate, the fetal heart rate will be fast at this time, reaching about 160 beats/minute. The fetal heart monitoring shows that except for the fast fetal heart rate, the baseline variation and fetal heart rate acceleration after fetal movement are normal. This is a normal reaction and the fetus is not in danger of hypoxia.
