How is hair transplant done?

Hair transplantation refers to the treatment of severe hair loss by transplanting hair. Hair transplantation uses medical machinery to repair hair tissue and transplant hair follicles to the area in need of hair transplantation through technology. It is a modern method of treating hair loss or alopecia areata. Hair transplantation also involves transplanting vigorous hair follicles to the area of hair loss, or transplanting hair follicles to the area of hair loss.

Specific steps of hair transplantation

Human hair, like other tissues in the human body, can be transplanted. Hair transplantation is the process of using special instruments to completely remove part of the tissue surrounding the hair follicles, remove it from the scalp, and then transplant it to a location that needs hair and has undergone certain preparations and is capable of accepting the hair. This is called hair transplantation.

Principles of Hair Transplantation

The hair follicles at the back of the human head are taken as the hair source, and after being separated into single or multiple hair follicle units, they are transplanted to the parts that need transplantation, such as the head, eyebrows, eyelashes, beard, chest, eyelashes, pubic area, etc. through sophisticated microsurgical techniques, allowing them to survive and grow naturally in the new parts, thereby achieving the purpose of repairing the local hair distribution density and achieving a beautiful effect. In fact, hair transplantation is also a kind of "taking money from one pocket to fill another", which can achieve a concealing and visual effect of lush hair.

Internationally recognized hair transplant technology

(1) FUT

The single hair follicle cultivation and regeneration technology extracts hair follicles from the back of the head through surgery, and uses patented fine instruments to transplant single hair follicles.

Suitable for: those with large or severe hair loss. A maximum of 3,000 units can be removed at one time. A thin linear scar will be left in the hair removal area after the operation.

(2) FUE

The non-surgical hair transplant technology uses a microscopic free device to extract hair follicles individually from the back of the head, and transplant them to the area of hair loss in the direction of hair growth. Suitable for: People with small hair loss area or those pursuing perfection. Single hair follicles are extracted, no sutures or stitches are required, healing is fast, no traces are left, and more than 3,000 units can be extracted at one time.

The hair transplant technologies used in China include FUT and FUE. Let’s first compare the differences between the following technologies in terms of preoperative testing, hair removal area, hair removal method, and hair transplantation method.

Three steps of hair transplantation

First: take a fusiform skin flap from the occipital region, then perform subcutaneous decompression suture and continuous suture of the outer layer. After the wound heals, there is no obvious scar, only a thin scar hidden in the hair. Since it is a horizontal hair follicle tissue and only a small amount of hair is taken in the vertical direction, there is no obvious change to the appearance of the original occipital hair.

Secondly: Hair follicle separation: Divide the removed skin flap into several small transplant units, also known as transplant embryos, without destroying the hair follicles. Each transplant embryo contains 1-3 hair follicles (the size of the transplant embryo is determined by the surgical method). This process is very strict and requires medical staff to have extremely high patience and carefulness, otherwise some hair follicles will be destroyed and cause losses to the patients.

Finally: Hair follicle transplantation: Make some micro incisions or holes in the bald area to implant the transplant embryos into the skin. This process determines the appearance after the operation. Since the number of hair follicles is limited, the limited hair follicles should be artistically distributed on the top of the head to achieve the best visual effect. In particular, the distribution of hair follicles at the hairline is very important, otherwise even if hair grows, it will not look good.
