What harm do mites do to the human body

Mites are harmful animals that are invisible to the naked eye. They exist in many places, including on human skin, clothes, bedding, etc. But what harm do mites do to the human body? Mites grow very quickly and can grow anywhere, so they can cause skin inflammation and, in severe cases, can cause hair loss. Therefore, removing mites is a very important lifestyle habit.

1. The harm of mites to human body:

1. Local foreign body reaction, causing local inflammatory lesions. Such as blockage of hair sebum organs, stimulation of stratum corneum proliferation, hair follicle expansion, enlarged pores, insufficient nutrition of hair follicles, hair loss and other diseases. Excessive secretion of sebum leads to an oily face.

2. Mites invade the eyelash follicles and sebaceous glands, causing inflammation of the eyelid margin and loose eyelashes.

3. The harm of mites to hair: Hair follicle mites scrape and eat the hair root wall, thereby absorbing the nutrients supplied to the hair root, making the hair root thinner, the root shaken, and hair loss begins, becoming the cause of dandruff, itchy head, scalp diseases, rough hair and hair loss.

4. The harm of mites to the skin: mites absorb nutrients in the skin, stimulate capillaries and cell tissues, and lead to skin deterioration. Skin mites accelerate the formation of fine wrinkles, accelerate pigmentation such as chloasma, freckles, and dark spots, and can also cause acne, acne scars, acne, rough skin, thickening of the cuticle, and the formation of uneven skin. Skin mites can also cause itching, rosacea, red face, red bloodshot eyes, etc.

5. Mites are the vectors of skin infectious diseases: mites in the skin can enter and exit the skin at any time, day or night. Mites crawl to the surface of the skin and carry cosmetic residues, various pollutants, bacteria and other foreign matter on the skin's surface onto their bodies and into the skin. If the skin's resistance is weak, it will cause skin inflammation.

6. Causes melanin metabolism disorder and pigment spot deposition.

7. Allergic reaction to mites: Dozens to thousands of mites are found in every gram of indoor air we live in, with 20-40 species. Tests to find out the cause of atopic dermatitis in adults found that more than 50% of people tested positive for mites.

2. Two questions about mites:

1. Will all the mites die if you don't fold the quilt? No

"It doesn't matter!" said Professor Mo Jianchu from the Institute of Entomology, College of Agriculture and Technology, Zhejiang University. In today's weather, moisture is everywhere, and even if you don't fold your quilt, moisture can still get in! The most important thing is to keep the room and bedding dry and the air circulating. The quilt you have slept in is warm and moist. In the morning, you can turn over the side of the quilt that is in contact with your body, and let it air on the bed before folding it.

Dermatologists also believe that there is no direct relationship between folding quilts and mites.

2. Drying your quilt in the sun is equivalent to roasting mites? No

Professor Mo Jianchu said: "Nonsense! When the quilt is exposed to the sun, the air and fragrance of plants in nature are absorbed by the cotton, and the so-called 'smell of the sun' is created. Besides, will the mites die if they are exposed to the sun? They will just run away! Because the sunlight evaporates the moisture in the quilt, it is not suitable for the mites to survive, so they can only crawl away."

"This statement is completely unreasonable. Dead mites do not produce this kind of fragrance. The fragrance should be emitted by the cotton fabric." said the dermatologist.

3. How to prevent mite infection?

1. Keep the air dry and ventilated. Minimize dust.

2. Clean dusty corners in the living environment promptly and regularly, such as air conditioning filters, mattresses, carpets, and places for growing flowers and fish.

3. When using air conditioning, open windows regularly to circulate air.

4. Use less carpets in the living room.

5. Dry your bedding frequently.
