Advantages and disadvantages of minimally invasive surgery for cervical spondylosis

Many office workers always think they are young, so they spend a long time looking at computers and mobile phones every day, and even do not move their cervical spine for several hours. They do not realize the seriousness until problems with the cervical spine occur. Although there are minimally invasive surgeries that can treat the cervical spine, it is not a perfect treatment method. The advantages and disadvantages of minimally invasive surgery for cervical spondylosis must be understood, and you must also know whether this surgery can make you recover.

Indications and contraindications of minimally invasive surgery for cervical spondylosis

It is not difficult to see from the methods of minimally invasive surgery that the target of its "punishment" is mainly the nucleus pulposus of the intervertebral disc. The means are somewhat simple and the goals of the surgery are basically the same, so their indications and contraindications are also roughly the same.

1. Indications. Neck and shoulder pain and heaviness accompanied by upper limb root soreness, burning pain, numbness and other symptoms; clinical symptoms and signs were consistent with the imaging diagnosis of CT, R&D; two months of conservative treatment had no obvious effect. The indications for percutaneous laser disc vaporization and percutaneous nucleoplasty are slightly more special, with the addition of "simple disc bulge with intact annulus fibrosus" compared to the above.

2. Contraindications. Rupture of the annulus fibrosus, herniated disc or free disc into the spinal canal: bony spinal canal stenosis, calcification of the intervertebral disc, osteophytes or ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament compressing the spinal cord or nerve roots; severe spinal cord compression; mental abnormalities or psychological disorders; bleeding tendency, severe cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.

In addition, the following three points need to be added:

① Percutaneous chemical nucleolysis of cervical disc pulposus requires the injection of collagenase into the cervical disc. Therefore, in addition to general contraindications, people who are allergic to collagenase, pregnant women and children under 14 years old are also contraindicated;

② Percutaneous discectomy can easily destroy the stability of the cervical spine, so "cervical instability" is also one of its contraindications. In addition, "positive pyramidal tract sign" is also a contraindication;

③ "Cervical spine instability requiring intervertebral fusion" is a contraindication for percutaneous nucleoplasty and should not be ignored.
