How are dental caries formed

Teeth play a very important role in daily life. When there is a problem with the teeth, it also means that the joint tissue or the entire oral cavity will be affected, including our gums and the nerves at the roots of the teeth. Pathological etiology

Caries is caused by sugary foods (especially sucrose) entering the mouth and fermenting into acids through the action of cariogenic bacteria in the dental plaque. These acids (mainly lactic acid) invade through the weak areas of the dental surface structure, dissolving and destroying the inorganic matter in the teeth. The following important conditions must be met in this process:

① cariogenic bacteria;

② Sugar is the material basis for bacteria to carry out metabolic activities and form dental plaque;

③ The ecological environment for bacteria to metabolize and cause disease on the tooth surface - dental plaque. Dental plaque allows the acid produced by bacterial fermentation of sugar to reach a certain concentration on the tooth surface (below the critical pH);

④Susceptible teeth.
