2. A husband cannot give blood to his wife, even though they are not related by blood. If a wife receives blood from her husband, she will produce antibodies against his blood type antigens. After pregnancy, antibodies can reach the fetus, and the fetus may develop hemolytic disease of the newborn.

What should you pay attention to when donating blood

1. Do not drink alcohol within 24 hours before donating blood, and do not stay up late, and ensure adequate sleep, otherwise you will experience dizziness after donating blood.

2. If you are a female blood donor, you must avoid donating blood 3 days before and after your menstrual period, otherwise it will cause great harm to yourself.

3. After donating blood, press the needle hole with a cotton swab to ensure that the bleeding stops. Be careful with this area within 24 hours and do not let water touch this area. Make sure it is clean and hygienic.

4. After donating blood, it is suitable to rest and do not do strenuous exercise. You can eat some fresh fruits, milk, fish and shrimp to supplement nutrition, but do not overeat.

Why can't blood be transfused between immediate family members?

Reason: Aggravates the condition and increases mortality.

1. If direct relatives donate blood to each other, when the blood from the donor enters the body of the recipient, the recipient's immune system will regard the lymphocytes in the donor's blood as its own lymphocytes and therefore will not destroy them. These foreign lymphocytes will "turn the tables" and attack the recipient's immune system, causing the recipient to have symptoms such as fever and rash, or even death from the infection.

2. This phenomenon is clinically identified as transfusion-related graft-versus-host disease. The incidence of this disease is not high, about 1% (the closer the blood relationship between direct relatives who transfuse blood to each other, the higher the chance of contracting the disease), but the mortality rate of patients with this disease is as high as 90%.
