What is the normal body fat percentage? What is the normal body fat percentage?

The BMI value measures a person's body fat percentage. The proportions for boys and girls are different. For women, the body fat percentage of boys should be between 10 and 24 percent, while that of women needs to be maintained between 25 and 32 percent. Exceeding this value can be considered obese or too thin. This article introduces the calculation standard of body fat percentage. If you want to know more, you can learn how to measure it.

Boys with a blood pressure of more than 25% and girls with a blood pressure of more than 32% are considered obese. A body fat percentage of 18-24% for boys and 25-31% for girls are both normal and slightly plump; a body fat percentage of 14-17% for boys and 21-24% for girls are healthy and standard body shapes; a body fat percentage of 6-13% for boys and 14-20% for girls are good figures at the fitness expert level.

From a scientific point of view, body fat percentage can be calculated using the BMI method. BMI calculation method:

①BMI=weight (kg) ÷ (height × height) (m)

②Body fat percentage: 1.2×BMI+0.23×age-5.4-10.8×sex (male is 1, female is 0)

If a person is 30 years old, male, 170cm tall and weighs 60kg.

BIM=60÷(1.70×1.70)=60÷2.89≈20.76

Body fat percentage:

1.2×20.76+0.23×30-5.4-10.8×1=24.912+6.9-5.4-10.8=15.612

Normal range of body fat percentage:

The body fat percentage of normal adults is 15%~18% for men and 25%~28% for women. Body fat percentage should be kept within the normal range. If the body fat percentage is too high and the weight exceeds the normal value by more than 20%, it can be considered obese. Obesity indicates lack of exercise, overnutrition or some endocrine system disease, and is often complicated by hypertension, hyperlipidemia, arteriosclerosis, coronary heart disease, diabetes, cholecystitis and other diseases; if the body fat percentage is too low, below the safe lower limit of body fat content, that is, 5% for men and 13%~15% for women, it may cause functional disorders.
