Can a blood test detect stomach cancer?

Can early-stage gastric cancer be detected by blood tests? Gastric cancer is a common disease in childbirth, but it poses a great threat to people's health. To put it bluntly, once gastric cancer is found in the late stage, it is equivalent to living your last days. The treatment of late-stage gastric cancer is really difficult. Therefore, everyone should pay attention to their health, observe their physical abnormalities, and actively prevent diseases, so as to ensure their healthy life. Once gastric cancer is discovered, timely treatment is necessary to control the disease. So, can early-stage gastric cancer be detected by blood tests? Let's find out below.

To check for malignant tumors, you can use the following methods

1. Blood test

Although blood tests cannot confirm tumors, they are an important means of detecting early cancers, especially when testing blood pressure. If the tumor markers representing different tumors are elevated, we can have some understanding of a tumor disease. For example, the examination of gonadal embryonal tumors and hepatocellular carcinoma can be carried out by checking alpha-fetoprotein. When the carcinoembryonic antigen CEA is elevated, the probability of colon cancer, lung cancer, gastric cancer, breast cancer, and ovarian cancer will also increase significantly.

2. Pap smear

During a gynecological examination, early cervical cancer can be detected through a Pap smear, which is a method that uses Pap staining. The diagnosis rate of the disease is generally between 60% and 70%.

3. B-ultrasound

This method of examination uses thermal Doppler imaging technology. Through B-ultrasound, it can clearly detect whether there are lumps or lesions in most organs of the body.

4. Chest X-ray

When X-rays pass through the human body, different images will appear due to the obstruction of various organs and different densities. Lung tumors can be detected through this examination item.

It is difficult to draw a direct conclusion by relying solely on blood tests, and other tests are needed to assist. However, for leukemia, a disease known as "blood cancer", blood tests can be used to make a direct judgment. If the number of white blood cells in the blood increases dramatically, while the number of red blood cells and platelets decreases, it can basically be determined that the patient has leukemia.

In my country, the annual mortality rate of gastric cancer is very high, reaching more than 100,000 people. Gastric cancer is a disease related to people's lives, and it should be checked and treated early. Can early blood tests detect gastric cancer? Gastric cancer can be diagnosed through blood. So, what tests are done in the blood test for early diagnosis of gastric cancer? What are the steps?

Blood tests for early gastric cancer: blood routine, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, stool routine, occult blood test, gastric juice examination, serum gastrin determination

1. Serum carcinoembryonic antigen may be positive.

2. Erythrocyte sedimentation rate usually increases rapidly.

3. Serum gastrin increased significantly.

4. Fecal occult blood tests are often persistently positive.

5. Gastric juice may be mixed with blood or present as coffee-colored sediment, and lactic acid, lactate dehydrogenase, and β-glucuronidase may increase.

6. Blood examination showed microcytic hypochromic anemia.

Can early-stage gastric cancer be detected by blood tests?

1. Abnormal liver function

Abnormal liver function is manifested by elevated bilirubin or enzyme levels. Excluding liver lesions, abnormal liver function may indicate liver metastasis.

2.PG Content

The content of PG (serum pepsinogen) often reflects gastric mucosal lesions. The PGⅠ/PGⅡ value shows a gradient downward trend as the lesions progress. This method can be used as a preliminary screening method for gastric cancer screening. In Japan, patients with PGⅠ<50μg/L and PGⅠ/PGⅡ<3.0 are considered to need gastroscopy.

3. Anemia

Anemia is caused by long-term blood loss, and most of the time it is of the normal cell and normal pigment type. However, when there is more bleeding and iron deficiency anemia occurs, it can be of the microcytic hypochromic type. If there is pernicious anemia, megaloblastic anemia can be seen.

4. Increased tumor markers

At present, no highly specific and sensitive gastric cancer tumor markers have been found, so gastric cancer markers in serum are not very helpful for early diagnosis, but they are of certain significance in judging the prognosis of the disease and the recurrence of tumors. The sensitivity of CEA, CA199, and CA125 to gastric cancer is 30~40%. High levels of CA199 and CA125 before surgery often mean a poor prognosis. When these markers are positive after surgery, it means tumor recurrence. In about 70% of cases where tumors are not removed for treatment, the level of CEA or CA199 in serum often reflects whether the tumor is effective for chemotherapy. Elevated serum CA125 levels are often accompanied by serosa or enchantment invasion.

Tips: CEA, CA199, and CA125 are all tumor markers.

The above is the introduction to "Can early-stage gastric cancer be detected by blood tests?" Gastric cancer is related to the patient's life. Nowadays, most people lead irregular lives and have unhealthy diets. Food quality cannot be guaranteed, which makes people's lives unhealthy and diseases continue to occur. I hope everyone will pay more attention to their lives, care more about their physical health, have more awareness of disease prevention, and avoid the occurrence of diseases.
