(1) Anthralin

It can inhibit the proliferation of epidermal cells and has a certain effect in the external treatment of psoriasis. 0.1% to 1% anthralin ointment, paste or emulsion is commonly used clinically. The main side effect is skin irritation. It should not be used for rashes in the vulva area. Anthralin preparations can darken the skin and stain clothing.

(2) Corticosteroids

It can resist cell mitosis. Commonly used clinical products include chloramphenicol, clofosinate ointment or cream, which have good short-term therapeutic effects on psoriasis. The main side effects, such as long-term topical use, can cause skin atrophy, hirsutism, capillary dilation, etc.

(3) Calcipotriol

It is an active metabolite of vitamin D2 and an analog of calcitriol. It was the world's first new drug for the treatment of psoriasis launched on the market in 1991. The drug has a strong regulatory effect on keratinocyte differentiation and proliferation. Calcipotriol ointment 50 μg/g is effective and safe in the treatment of mild or moderate psoriasis.

(4) Chlormethotrexate Cream

Methotrexate (MTX) is effective in treating psoriasis, but it has serious side effects. Zhang Guoyi and others from abroad used 0.1% methotrexate cream to treat 54 cases of refractory psoriasis and monitored serum MTX concentrations. The effective rate of the methotrexate treatment group was 83.3%, no MTX was detected in the serum, and no obvious systemic side effects were observed. The results showed that topical 0.1% methotrexate cream is effective in treating psoriasis.
