12-month-old baby's sleep time

A 12-month-old baby, that is, a one-year-old baby, has reached a certain stage of development. During this period, the baby's sleep time and diet have also changed compared to the newborn period. Especially in terms of sleep, the baby must sleep enough time every day to ensure the baby's healthy growth. Next, I will introduce you to some relevant knowledge about baby sleep.

1. Sleep time and frequency standards for babies aged 0-12 months

Sufficient sleep is very important for babies and is a necessary condition for ensuring the baby's health. Babies two to three months old should generally sleep for seventeen to eighteen hours. Of course, the length of sleep time each baby gets each day varies greatly from person to person, so it can be flexibly controlled.

The average sleep time and frequency of babies are:

Babies under six months old should sleep two to four times during the day. The younger the baby is, the more naps he or she should take.

After three months, you can sleep continuously for five to six hours at night, gradually forming a pattern of shorter days and longer nights.

From six to twelve months old, babies usually sleep once in the morning and once in the afternoon, each time for 1.5 to 2 hours. The afternoon sleep is longer, sometimes up to three to five hours. At night, they can sleep continuously for seven to eight hours.

After the age of two to six, reduce to one nap in the afternoon and nine to ten hours of sleep at night.

After entering primary school, I stopped taking naps, went to bed between 8 and 8:30 at night, and woke up between 6 and 6:30 in the morning, slowly starting to approach the habits of adults!

2. Mom can help her baby sleep better by doing this

1. Let your baby sleep alone in a small bed with railings. Do not tease your baby to play and make him overly excited before bedtime, and do not hold him as soon as he cries. Pay attention to cultivating a good habit of your baby falling asleep automatically when lying in bed.

2. You can wash and dress your baby on time, wrap him up and put him to sleep in the crib, dim the lights in the room, and the mother can sing nursery rhymes softly to hypnotize the baby, and then accompany him silently for a while until he falls asleep.

3. After waking up at night (before breastfeeding time), do not pick up the baby and pat him/her immediately. Instead, observe the baby quietly for a while, pat him/her gently a few times at most, and let him/her fall asleep again. Do not talk to the baby, tease or play with him/her, and do not pick up the baby.

4. You should pay more attention to whether your baby’s diaper is wet or he is feeling unwell so that you can deal with it in time.

3. Sleep safety precautions

1. Whether the child is asleep or awake, do not smoke around the child. Children who are exposed to secondhand smoke are more likely to suffer from sleep apnea and may also experience symptoms such as allergies and asthma.

2. The temperature of the room should be suitable for sleeping, preferably between 18 degrees Celsius and 22 degrees Celsius, and the child should not feel hot or cold.

3. The quilt should not be too thick or too large, as the child may suffocate if wrapped in it. You can use thick pajamas or a blanket specially made for children as a quilt. The pillow should be suitable for children over 18 months old. It is recommended to choose a slightly hard pillow.

4. Make sure your child wear fireproof or close-fitting pajamas, and avoid letting your child wear cotton clothing that is too large or too loose. Woolen or cotton clothes will easily burn when exposed to fire.

5. Children’s beds should not be too soft. For example, water beds and down beds are not qualified. Your child should sleep on a relatively flat, firm mattress, covered with smooth, wrinkle-free sheets that don't move easily.
