How to treat phv

Genital warts are relatively common in our daily life. It is a common sexually transmitted disease caused by human papillomavirus. It causes great harm to human reproductive health, especially for women. It is also an important cause of inducing some reproductive tumors. If you have this disease, you must receive good treatment in time. The more common ones include laser treatment, cryotherapy, etc., and it must be combined with certain antiviral drug treatments.

How to treat phv

Since there is currently no specific antiviral drug, genital warts must be treated with a comprehensive approach. Generally speaking, as long as you adhere to the regular comprehensive treatment, you can be cured.

1. Surgical treatment

Single, small warts can be removed surgically; giant warts can be removed using Mohs surgery, with frozen sections used to check whether the lesions have been removed cleanly.

2. Cryotherapy

Using liquid nitrogen at a low temperature of -196℃, the freezing method is used to treat genital warts, promoting the necrosis and shedding of wart tissue. This method is suitable for warts with a small number and small area. It can be treated 1-2 times with an interval of one week.

3. Laser treatment

Genital warts are usually treated by ablative treatment using CO2 laser. This therapy is most suitable for warts on the vulva, penis or perianal area. Single or a small number of multiple warts can be treated once, while multiple or large warts can be treated 2-3 times, with an interval of one week generally.

4. Electrocautery

Use high-frequency electroacupuncture or electrosurgery to remove warts, give local anesthesia, and then cauterize. This therapy is suitable for warts with small number and small area.

5. Microwave therapy

Using a microwave surgical treatment machine and lidocaine local anesthesia, the tip of the rod-shaped radiation probe is inserted into the sharp wetness until it reaches the base of the wart. When the wart becomes smaller, darker in color, and changes from soft to hard, thermal radiation coagulation is complete and the probe can be removed. Coagulated lesions can be removed with forceps. To prevent recurrence, the remaining base can be coagulated again.

Prevention of genital warts

1. If one party suffers from genital warts, sexual intercourse must be avoided, otherwise it will be transmitted to the spouse. Both parties should actively undergo comprehensive examinations, treatment and subsequent routine follow-up examinations. If you have sexual intercourse during this period, you can use condoms for protection, which is the most basic method of preventing genital warts.

2. You must resolutely put an end to promiscuous sex, as 60% of patients with genital warts are infected through sexual contact. So if one person in a family contracts a disease from society, it will be transmitted to the spouse through sexual intercourse. It may even be transmitted to other family members through close contact in daily life, which not only brings physical pain, but also causes family discord, and the patient will suffer mental stress. Therefore, improving sexual morality and avoiding extramarital sex are important points in preventing genital warts.

3. Pay attention to personal hygiene, change and wash underwear every day, and wash your own underwear separately. This can also effectively avoid cross-infection of genital warts. Even family members should have their own basin and towel for each person to use.

4. Prevent cross-infection through contact: Do not use other people’s underwear, swimsuits and bathtubs, and do not take a bath in public pools. It is recommended to take a shower and not sit directly on the bathtub seat after bathing. If you use a squat toilet in a public restroom, wash your hands with soap before going to the toilet, and avoid swimming in densely populated or poorly disinfected swimming pools, these are also important ways to prevent genital warts.
