Morning is the beginning of the day, and it is important to have a good breakfast. It is normal for your stomach to growl if you haven't eaten in the morning. It means you are hungry and it is time to eat. However, some people still experience rumbling stomachs after meals. This may be caused by intestinal rumbling, which is related to many diseases and requires a comprehensive understanding of this situation. So, what’s causing your stomach to growl in the morning? Let’s take a closer look below. In most cases, bowel sounds do not exist alone. People who often experience bowel sounds can observe the timing, frequency, sound, and accompanying symptoms of the bowel sounds to determine whether they are related to the following gastrointestinal diseases. 1. If bowel sounds exist alone without any accompanying symptoms, are more obvious after meals, and occur more than five times per minute, it is likely to be indigestion. Indigestion can cause excessive gas production in the stomach and intestines, and it cannot be discharged smoothly, which will cause intestinal rumbling. Generally speaking, this type of intestinal rumbling is not harmful. It can be regulated by eating less difficult-to-digest food and more gastrointestinal stimulating food. 2. If active bowel sounds are accompanied by symptoms such as diarrhea and abdominal pain, you should be alert to acute gastritis, bacillary dysentery, amoebic dysentery, accidental ingestion of laxatives, and massive gastrointestinal bleeding. Active bowel sounds mean that the frequency of bowel sounds is 10 times/minute, the sound becomes louder but not high-pitched, and when bowel sounds appear, it feels like the intestines are moving. 3. Hyperactive bowel sounds and abdominal distension without tenderness should alert you to mechanical intestinal obstruction. If the bowel sounds occur more than ten times per minute, are loud, high-pitched, or even have clinking or metallic sounds, then these are called hyperactive bowel sounds. 4. If bowel sounds are weakened or inaudible , it is likely that constipation, low gastrointestinal motility, peritonitis, electrolyte imbalance (hypokalemia), etc. Reduced bowel sounds means that the bowel sounds are less than normal and the volume is low, perhaps once a minute, or even no bowel sounds can be heard at all. 5. If bowel sounds occur and are accompanied by abnormal bowel movements, abdominal pain, and bloating, and the symptoms persist or recur for more than three months, it is recommended that you see a gastroenterologist. Colorectal cancer is prevalent in my country. If these symptoms persist for a long time, it is best for patients to go to the hospital for a colonoscopy to rule out organic diseases such as intestinal polyps and tumors. If after the excretion, bowel sounds, abdominal distension, frequent farts and unformed stools still occur frequently, the patient should be alert to the possibility of irritable bowel syndrome caused by an imbalance of intestinal bacteria. |
