Can't thyroid cancer patients eat grapefruit?

Patients with thyroid cancer can eat grapefruit, which is rich in vitamins and is helpful in the treatment of thyroid cancer. However, it should be eaten in moderation and not in excess. Patients with thyroid cancer should also pay attention to other diets and maintain good living habits.

Thyroid cancer is a malignant tumor of the thyroid gland caused by a variety of factors, often related to excessive iodine intake, exposure to radioactive substances, family inheritance and other factors. Most thyroid cancers originate from follicular epithelial cells. Patients have basically no obvious symptoms in the early stages. A lump can be felt in the neck, accompanied by symptoms such as difficulty swallowing and hoarseness. The treatment of thyroid cancer is mainly surgical resection. After surgery, radionuclide therapy can be used as prescribed by the doctor, and thyroid-stimulating hormone suppression therapy can also be used. Grapefruit does not contain radioactive substances and the iodine content is relatively low, so thyroid cancer patients can eat grapefruit in moderation to supplement the vitamins needed by the body.

Thyroid cancer patients are advised to eat more high-calorie, high-protein, high-vitamin, easily digestible foods, such as milk, eggs, tofu, etc., to maintain a balanced diet. However, they should avoid eating spicy, cold, greasy, and pickled foods, such as onions, ginger, garlic, peppers, seafood, and fatty meat, to reduce stimulation to the thyroid gland and hinder recovery.

Precautions

Thyroid cancer patients should also pay attention to adjusting their mentality, maintaining a relaxed and optimistic mood, and appropriately doing things that interest them, such as listening to music, watching comedy films, etc., to avoid excessive anxiety and tension. They should also pay attention to rest, not stay up late, and not do strenuous exercise, so as not to aggravate the condition.
