How to measure bust, waist and hips

The three measurements that people often talk about are chest circumference, waist circumference and hip circumference. Measurements are very important, especially when buying or ordering clothes. Only by knowing your specific measurements can you buy clothes that suit you. Of course, the normal proportions of the three measurements are also very important. If the proportions are good, the person's figure will look more coordinated. So, how do you measure your waist, chest and hips?

1. Normal proportions of the three measurements

The general proportions of women's measurements are: chest circumference is approximately equal to hip circumference, and waist circumference is approximately 23 cm smaller than chest circumference or hip circumference. Through measurement and calculation, if any circumference is found to be different from the standard data, it can be corrected through bodybuilding exercises. Because targeted bodybuilding exercises can enhance the coordinated development of the "three measurements" and prevent imbalances. In addition, bodybuilding exercises can evenly distribute muscles and fat in various parts of the body, which is beneficial to the fitness of the entire physique.

2. Measurement methods of the three measurements

Chest circumference: Chest circumference reflects the size of the thorax and the development of the chest muscles and breasts, and is an important indicator of physical development. When measuring, stand upright with your arms hanging naturally. Place the front of the tape measure on the upper edge of the nipple and the back of the tape measure on the lower angle of the shoulder blade. First measure your chest circumference when you are at rest, then measure your chest circumference when you take a deep breath, and finally measure your chest circumference when you take a deep breath. The difference in chest circumference during deep inhalation and deep exhalation is the respiratory difference, which can reflect the function of the respiratory organs. The average breathing difference for an adult is 6 to 8 centimeters, and for someone who exercises regularly, the breathing difference can reach more than 10 centimeters. When measuring the chest circumference of an underage female, the tape measure should be placed horizontally at the lower corner of the shoulder blade and in front on the breast peak. When measuring, remind the person being measured not to shrug his shoulders or bend over when exhaling.

Waist circumference: The waist circumference reflects the development of the waist and abdominal muscles. When measuring, stand upright with your arms hanging naturally, do not tighten your abdomen, keep your breathing steady, and place the measuring tape horizontally on the narrowest part above the hip bone and below the ribs (the thinnest part of the waist).

Hip circumference: Hip circumference reflects the development of hip bones and muscles. When measuring, stand upright with your legs together, arms hanging naturally, and place the measuring tape horizontally between the pubic symphysis in front and the most protruding part of the gluteus maximus behind.

3. Notes

To ensure accuracy, the "three measurements" should be measured in cross-section and before exercise. At the same time, pay attention to the same time and location for each measurement. Do not pull the tape measure too tight or too loose when measuring, and strive to be careful and accurate.
