Many people don't realize how much damage tiny termites can cause. Especially for those houses and buildings with forest structures and brick-wood structures, if no protective measures are taken, they are very likely to be damaged by termites. Therefore, when decorating a house, special attention should be paid to preventing termites. So when decorating a house, how should we pay special attention to this aspect? Termites cause serious damage to buildings, especially brick-wood and wooden structures. Because it is hidden inside the wooden structure, destroying or damaging its bearing points often causes the house to collapse suddenly, which arouses great concern among people. In my country, the main types of termites that harm buildings include: Coptotermes formosanus, Reticulitermes, and Mound termites. Among them, species of the genus Coptotermes are the most destructive termites to buildings. Its characteristics are strong diffusion, large groups, rapid destruction, and it can cause huge losses in a short period of time. Termite prevention measures in decoration and renovation design 1. You should choose wood that has a certain resistance to termites, and carefully check whether the purchased wood has insect holes, etc. Controlling the quality of materials will play a big role in prevention. 2. The door frames and door covers of the bathroom are areas prone to termites. During the decoration design and construction, try to use door frame feet that do not enter the ground. There should be a distance of about 3mm between the door frame and door cover and the ground to prevent the wooden grid from absorbing water and mildew. It is also very effective in preventing termites. 3. A ventilation pipe should be installed under the wooden floor to avoid poor ventilation under the floor and long-term moisture. Some floor ribs are laid on prefabricated cement board frame beams to form bucket-type empty frames under the floor. These frame grooves must be connected to facilitate moisture evaporation. If conditions permit, drainage facilities and backflow treatments can be considered to keep the wooden floor dry, which can effectively prevent ant damage and mold corrosion. 4. The lighting during construction attracts and increases the chances of long-winged reproductive ants settling and building nests. When construction is carried out during the termite swarming season, attention should be paid to preventing long-winged reproductive ants, and any long-winged reproductive ants that fly in should be killed promptly. During the peak period of termite swarming, try to avoid construction at night. 5. Most termite species require water sources, and if a large number of water supply and drainage facilities are not constructed properly, they will provide termites with sufficient water sources. During the construction process, attention should be paid to the water supply and drainage facilities of the house to prevent water accumulation, leakage and seepage, otherwise the decoration materials and some facilities will be in a damp environment all year round, providing living conditions for termites to breed. |
