What can be used to wash off dried blood stains

In daily life, the clothes we wear or the sheets may be easily stained with blood if we are not careful. When clothes are stained with blood, it will easily affect the image and appearance. At the same time, the blood stains are very difficult to wash off, especially after the blood stains have dried and completely penetrated into the fibers of the fabric, it will be even more difficult to wash off. It requires certain methods to remove them. There are many ways to wash off dried blood stains. You can soak them in warm water or pour in detergent to wash them.

What can I use to clean dried blood stains?

This simple method is mainly used on linen and cotton. It does not require special tools, but it does require long rubbing. It is particularly suitable for removing stains from natural fabrics such as linen and cotton. If the fabric has small round balls, such as wool and most man-made fibers, you must rub it longer and with gentler movements.

The bloody side faces down. Use water to flush the stain from the back, pushing it forward to free it from the fabric. It is more effective to rinse from behind the stain rather than directly at it.

You may need to turn the garment inside out so you can rinse it from the back.

Rinse the blood stain with cool water. Even old blood stains usually haven't fully seeped into the fabric yet, so you can start by removing the loosely attached stains. Rinse the back of the fabric with cold water to push out the stain. Run the fabric under cold water for a few minutes and the stain should at least appear a little smaller.

WARNING: Do not use warm or hot water to rinse the blood stain, as this may permanently bond it to the fabric fibers.

Rub the blood stain with soap. Turn the fabric over so the stain is facing up. Rub the soap into the blood stain until it creates a lot of bubbles. You can use any soap, but traditional solid bars of laundry soap are harder and more effective than mild hand soaps.

How to Remove Dried Blood Stains from Fabric with Soap and Water

Grabbing the blood stain with both hands. Crumple the two sides of the cloth around the blood stain into a ball, and hold one side with both hands to make it easier to rub them against each other later.

Rub the blood stains against each other. Turn the fabric between your hands so that the stain is divided in half and faces each other. Rub the dirty fabric vigorously, or use gentle but quick movements if it is a delicate fabric. The friction you create will slowly loosen any remaining blood, keeping it contained within the foam and preventing it from reattaching to the fabric.

You may want to wear gloves to prevent skin breaks or blisters. Latex or nitrile gloves that fit snugly around the hands provide minimal resistance and allow for more dexterity when gripping fabric.

Change the water and soap from time to time and continue to rub. If the fabric begins to dry out or lose its lather, rinse the stain with clean water and then reapply soap. Continue rubbing the stain in the same manner until it is gone. If the stain is not gone after 5 to 10 minutes, try rubbing harder or using a different method.
