Cervicitis is not the same as HPV infection, nor is it the same as the precancerous lesions of cervical cancer. However, the incidence of cervical cancer in women with cervicitis is about ten times higher than that of women without cervicitis. Therefore, when the doctor tells you that you have cervical erosion, it is best to screen for cervical cancer by doing a cervical cell smear test or TCT.
