An injury-related disease with the main symptoms of redness, swelling, burning pain, blistering, and eschar formation at the wound site, accompanied by fever, irritability, yellow urine, and even coma.

TCM pathogenesis:

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that this disease is caused by the evil of fire toxicity, which injures the skin externally. In severe cases, the heat evil enters the interior, attacks the heart, consumes qi and damages yin, causing both qi and yin to be damaged, imbalance of yin and yang, blockage of blood vessels, poor circulation of qi and blood, heat damages the blood, yin fluid is consumed, and the skin loses nourishment, thus causing this disease.

Pathophysiology:

The main pathophysiological changes of burns are the dilation and increased permeability of capillaries in the burn area and its surrounding and deep tissues, which causes plasma exudation, leading to edema in the tissue spaces, loss of water, salt and protein, and excessively high temperatures can cause local tissue necrosis. Plasma exudation in large-area burns is not limited to the burned area, but can also occur in other unburned areas and internal organs, causing systemic lesions.
