What are the categories of body types?

Human body shapes are divided into standard body shapes and special body shapes, which are the two main types of body shapes. For special body types, detailed divisions are made based on different characteristics. The standard for division is that the weight is located in the center of the body and then intersects with the waistline at right angles. In addition, a vertical line is drawn from the front chest and back for judgment. In this way, it is basically possible to tell what body type a person has.

1. Basis for special classification

The appearance of a particular body type is determined by two factors: body shape and body posture. Body shape refers to the external form of the human body composed of the shape of the bones, the direction of the muscles, the location and shape of the fat, etc. For example, a pot-bellied body shape is caused by fat accumulating in the abdomen. Body posture is formed by the habitual postures that people develop in life. The shape of their bones, the direction of their muscles, and the location of their fat are not much different from the standard body shape. For example, if you have a hunchback and a protruding abdomen, you can restore your standard body shape by simply changing your standing posture. Of course, habits are not easy to change, and the shape of your bones will change over time. In life, there are external forms formed by body shape, external forms formed by body posture, and even external forms formed by both reasons at the same time. Here we collect the typical external body shapes formed due to three different reasons, and divide the special body shapes into ten categories.

2. Classification of special body types

1. The reverse body shape is characterized by thick chest, high chest, hips that are stretched back, high hips that are higher, obvious curve at the back of the waist, inward-retracted abdomen, and the whole body shape is an inverted S, which is a beautiful body shape. Compared with the standard body shape, due to the towering chest and inward-drawn abdomen, the distance between the vertical line drawn from the front chest and the abdomen is larger than that of the standard body, and the vertical line drawn from the back touches or passes the high point of the buttocks.

2. Thick body shape features large and raised breasts, protruding buttocks, high buttocks slightly higher, thin waist, large difference between chest-waist and hip-waist, exceeding the chest-waist difference listed for Y body type in the national clothing size standard, obvious body curves. This body shape belongs to the European and American type. There is also a certain proportion of people with this type in my country, and it is more common among mature young women. The vertical line drawn from the front chest and back has a similar effect to the reverse body.

3. The backward-leaning body is characterized by a protruding abdomen, a retracted torso, a curved back, a forward tilt of the head, neck and upper chest, retracted thighs, lowered and retracted buttocks, and an S-shaped body with the front and outer part of the body moving from the chest to the abdomen. The vertical line drawn from the chest goes down into the inner abdomen, while the vertical line drawn from the back becomes farther away from the hips. This body type is more common in immature girls around 14 years old and relatively thin elderly people.

4. The body shape characteristics of the flexed body are similar to those of the backward-leaning body, but the whole body is thinner and more slender than the backward-leaning body, the chest and buttocks are relatively flatter, and the head and neck are more bent forward. Generally, tall and thin people have this body type, which we commonly call bean sprout body type. Young girls and the elderly also have this body type.

5. The flat body has similar characteristics to the standard body, but the chest and buttocks are flat, and the overall body shape is thin. The vertical line drawn from the chest and back is some distance away from the abdomen and buttocks. This body shape is found in women around 30 years old. Because the abdomen and back are equally thin, the vertical line drawn from the chest and back has almost no distance from the abdomen and buttocks.
