Why doesn't the swelling of metatarsal fracture go down?

Metatarsal fractures are caused by compression from heavy objects or sprains. Since the metatarsal bones are located on the sole of the foot and move whenever you walk, they are more difficult to maintain. The fractured metatarsal bone will cause constant pain or fatigue when subjected to pressure, making it very difficult to walk. Unless you stay in bed and rest without walking, the condition will recur.

1. The pain will be more obvious in the first few days after a fracture. After about 3 days, the pain will generally be significantly reduced, and will be basically relieved after a week.

2. Limb swelling is a normal reaction after a fracture. The time it takes for the swelling to subside varies from person to person, so there is no need to be too nervous. Foods high in calcium include: fish, milk, yogurt, sesame seeds, dark green vegetables, and seaweed. Foods rich in vitamin B: coarse rice, polished rice, soybeans, peanuts, sesame seeds, and dark green vegetables.

Protein is an indispensable nutrient for the formation of muscles, ligaments and bones. Foods high in protein include: pork, chicken, beef, liver, fish, shellfish, cheese, eggs, soybeans, and soy products.

Vitamin E can dilate blood vessels, promote blood flow, and eliminate muscle tension, and is used to relieve pain. Foods rich in vitamin E: eel, soybeans, peanuts, sesame, almonds, brown rice, and vegetable oil.

3. If the fracture heals ideally, the plaster can usually be removed in about 4 weeks.

4. After removing the plaster, you cannot walk immediately. You can put your feet on the ground, but you must use crutches for protection for a period of time. During the recovery period, it is a good idea to apply some traditional Chinese medicine externally, such as the bone-setting and blood-activating ointment, which is a hand-made black medicine that is very beneficial for the recovery of fractures. Only after X-ray examination shows that the fracture has basically healed can you walk without crutches. This usually takes 2 to 5 months.
