How to recover quickly from a sprained waist

Lumbar sprains often occur in people's daily activities. Since the lumbar ligaments are sprained in the process, many people need to find some ways to recover quickly. In this situation, there are actually many ways to help the recovery of the waist, such as massage, which is to get the help of others and perform moderate massage on the sprained area or nearby area.

"Lumbago" is a common disease, which is mostly caused by soft tissue damage due to incorrect posture, excessive force, excessive activity and external force collision.

Modern people, due to lack of exercise, or maintaining a posture for a long time, cause the ligaments in the waist to become very "fragile", and they may be "sprung" unexpectedly when moving or lifting heavy objects. At this time, many simple home remedies can come in handy. "Lumbago" is medically known as acute lumbar sprain, which is mostly caused by soft tissue damage due to improper posture, excessive force, excessive activity and external force collision. No matter what the situation, once a "lumbar sprain" occurs, the first thing to do is to lie down and rest. It is best to sleep on a hard bed. If there is no hard bed, you might as well sleep on the floor temporarily. Do not sleep on a spring bed, because the soft spring bed will cause scoliosis of the spine and aggravate lumbar disease. At the same time, when lying down, keep your waist flat, put a pillow under your knees, curl up your legs and lie flat on the bed. Avoid straightening your legs, as this posture will not only increase pain, but may also cause numbness of the feet.

In addition to applying external ointments or pain-relieving creams after a slipped waist, some simple treatments are also very effective. For example, blowing the affected area with a hair dryer, or shining a desk lamp at the affected area at close range, can quickly relieve the pain. Wrap heated salt or sand in a cloth bag and apply it to the sprained area for half an hour, once in the morning and once in the evening. This is also very effective, but be careful not to burn the skin.

Once a "slip waist" occurs, the following methods can be used as appropriate:

Massage

Those who have a slipped back should lie prone, and family members should use their palms to rub and press on both sides of the spine from top to bottom, and then massage down to the buttocks to the muscles under the thighs and behind the calves. After massaging several times, use the thumbs to massage and rub the most painful area several times.

Back-luck method

Ask the person with a sprained waist to stand with his or her family members back to back. Both parties should bend their elbows and hold each other. Then the family member should lower their head and bend over, carry the patient on their back and gently shake him or her left and right. At the same time, ask the patient to kick his or her feet upwards. After about 3 to 5 minutes, put the patient down and rest for a few minutes before doing it again. Generally, after reciting it a few times, the lower back pain will gradually improve. Then, recite it a few times a day until it is cured.

Hot compress

Wrap heated salt or sand in a cloth bag and apply hot compress to the sprained area for half an hour each time, once in the morning and once in the evening. Be careful not to burn the skin.

Topical application of drugs

Take fresh ginger, hollow out the inner layer, put the finely ground realgar into the ginger and cover it tightly, put it on a tile to dry, bake the ginger until it turns old yellow, let it cool, grind it into fine powder, sprinkle it on the injury and dampness plaster, apply it to the affected area, and remove the medicine when the pain stops.

In case of acute low back pain, massage the painful area on the same day. For chronic pain, you can soak a towel in hot water or steam it, then wring it dry and apply it to your waist, massage it, or use a hair dryer to blow hot air. To strengthen your waist and maintain your health, you can massage the soles of your feet or your pubic area. The following are commonly used acupoints for regulating low back pain.

Houxi Point: Located on the outside of the little finger, make a fist with your back tilted back, and there is a depression on the bone edge where the tip of the fist starts from the tip of the transverse bone line. The Houxi acupoint regulates the Qi of the Du meridian and has the effect of promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis. In case of acute lumbar sprain or slipped waist, press the Houxi acupoint forcefully and slowly twist the waist. It would be better if you press the Ren Zhong acupoint as well. The Zhongzhu acupoint introduced last time can also be used for the treatment.

Shenshu point: The Mingmen point is located directly opposite the center of the navel to the spine on the back. One and a half inches on both sides of the Mingmen point, about two fingers away, is the place where kidney qi is transported. Make an empty fist, place the thumb and index finger on the Shenshu point, and step with both feet until heat enters the Shenshu point. This has an excellent kidney-strengthening effect and is effective for low back pain and sciatica caused by Qi and blood deficiency, kidney deficiency, and senile degeneration. If numbness and pain in the feet occur, press the Yanglingquan and Zusanli points. If numbness and pain in the ankles and dorsum of the feet occur, press the Taichong point. All of them can achieve the effect of relaxing muscles, promoting blood circulation and relieving pain. Elderly people with low back pain can also press the Yanglao point to reduce leg weakness and muscle atrophy symptoms

A minor back sprain can heal on its own with just a day or two of rest, but if the pain persists or gets worse, you should seek medical attention as soon as possible.
